Adam Lambert: Who's outraged by the OUT cover controversy?
Adam Lambert is featured in this year's "Out 100" list in “Out” Magazine; however there were apparently some miscommunications about how gay Adam Lambert should represent himself. Reportedly Adam Lamberts reps insisted on limiting his questions, as to not make him seem "too gay" and the Editor-In-Chief of “Out” Magazine Aaron Hicklin responded with an open letter to Adam Lambert.
The open letter to Adam Lambert contained statements such as, “..Although you narrowly lost to Kris Allen, you were the real winner for those of us who saw your success as a test of America’s growing tolerance. That’s why we’re proud to have you in this year’s Out 100, along with all the other men and women who don’t believe their sexuality should be a barrier to success. It’s unfortunate, therefore, that your record label and management don’t share the same view."
”Getting gay stars like yourself is another matter. Much easier to stick you in Details, where your homosexuality can be neutralized by having you awkwardly grabbing a woman’s breast and saying, “Women are pretty.” So are kittens, Adam, but it doesn’t mean you have to make out with them.”

Adam Lambert quickly responded to Hicklin stating in a Twitter response, “Dear Aaron, it's def not that deep. Chill! Guess ya gotta get attention for the magazine. U too are at the mercy of the marketing machine.” “Until we have a meaningful conversation, perhaps you should refrain from projecting your publications' agenda onto my career.” Adam Lambert also Tweeted a thank-you to 'Planet Fierce' for their swift reaction coming to Lamberts defense.

I’m on the fence with this one. While I agree his isn’t the best choice for one of the best gays out there and could represent us as a community a million times better, his entire fan base isn’t queer. There are straight teenage girls who voted for him in AI…even though they’re most likely fag hags themselves in high school LOL
Adams performance tonight was all about “Contrived Controversy” (AMA)
I don’t understand how anyone can select “Wake up its 2009 who cares if he is gay or straight” when it is obvious that many people do care.
Over the last 2 decades (if not more) millions and millions of Americans (so called “land of the free”) have voted against giving equal rights (freedom from employment discrimination and hate crimes, marriage and adoption) to gay people.
- Gay people are still bullied, harassed, beaten, bashed, threatened, and murdered across the USA.
- “Fagg0t” and “That’s so gay” is common slurs heard in schools, public places, public transit, and the workplace.
- Many gay people have problems with drugs/alcohol, sexual health, and self-esteem because they are or fear they may be rejected by family/friends/co-workers.
- Many gays spend years hiding in the closet and many attempt or commit suicide.
- Politicians/political parties, churches/ministers openly support discrimination against gay people still get votes and millions in donations.
- For years it was acceptable for Simon and Ryan to trade homophobic comments against each other on American Idol
Being gay does matter to many people
