Bloody Massacre At Gay Birthday Party Leaves 18 Dead

Gunmen burst into a birthday party organized through Facebook by a gay group in Mexico and opened fire, slaughtering at 18 people and injuring 17 early Sunday, police say. Bodies were found at the blood-stained party hall where the attack took place, including 12 males and five females, and around a dozen injured. Mexican authorities were quick to dismiss hate crime as a motive, saying instead that it was likely part of the ongoing drug cartel violence. The party was being held in the Italia Inn in Torreon, where guests were eating, drinking and dancing to live music. Most of the guest appeared to be in their 20s and 30s, authorities said. The gunmen rolled up in several vehicles, rushed into the party, blocks exits, and began shooting dozens of rounds. Police said they found more than 120 spent shells shot from high-velocity assault rifles. Torreon is in the northern state of Coahuila, which borders Texas. At least three major drug cartels are fighting for control in Coahuila, which is a key smuggling location into the U.S.

ASSOCIATED PRESS - The gunmen did not say a word as they jumped from their cars and stormed the private party. They simply opened fire. When they were done, 18 people were killed. Sunday's massacre in the city of Torreon was ghastly, but no longer unprecedented in northern Mexico, a region that is slammed day after day by gruesome slayings that authorities attribute to an increasingly brutal battle between drug gangs feuding over territory. Investigators had no suspects or information on a possible motive in the attack, but Coahuila, where Torreon is located, is among several northern Mexican states that have seen a spike in drug-related violence as the Gulf cartel and its former enforcers, the Zetas, fight for control of drug-trafficking routes. The attack on the party came just three days after a car bomb killed several people in the northern city of Ciudad Juarez — and a little more than a month after assailants raided a drug-rehab center in the northern city of Chihuahua, killing 19 people in cold blood. Photos of the aftermath showed the patio of the house in Torreon streaked with bloodstains and white plastic chairs overturned beneath a party tent decorated with pictures of snowmen. The Coahuila state Attorney General's Office said in a statement Monday that the death toll rose to 18 overnight after one of the wounded died. There were 12 male and six female victims; among them were four teenagers, the youngest a 17-year-old boy. Seventeen were wounded. The assailants arrived in a convoy of vehicles. Police found more than 120 bullet casings at the scene, most of them from .223-caliber weapons. Torreon is no stranger to violence. In May, gunmen killed eight people at a bar in the city, while later that month a television station and the offices of a local newspaper came under fire. A pregnant woman was wounded in the attack on the offices of Noticias de El Sol de la Laguna. Across northern Mexico, there have been increasing reports of mass shootings at parties, bars and rehab clinics. In January, gunmen barged into a private party in the border city of Ciudad Juarez and killed 15, many of them high school or university students. Relatives say that attack was a case of mistaken identity, while state officials claim someone at the party was targeted, although they have not said who it was. On Thursday, drug-gang members set off their first successful car bomb. They lured federal police and paramedics to an intersection in Ciudad Juarez by calling in a false report of a wounded police officer, and when the authorities were in place at the scene, they detonated the explosive. Three people were killed, including a federal officer and a private doctor who had rushed to help. The FBI has sent a small team to the crime scene to offer technical assistance to the Mexican investigators, FBI spokeswoman Andrea Simmons said. She did not immediately offer more details. Mexican investigators have not said what type of explosive was used. Officials say 24,800 people have been killed in drug-gang violence since President Felipe Calderon declared war on the cartels in December 2006, deploying soldiers and federal police to fight traffickers. On Saturday, four municipal police officers were ambushed and killed in the Pacific coast resort city of Acapulco, state police said. The government attributes much of the rise in violence to infighting among drug gangs, whose leadership has been splintered after the arrest of kingpins. Federal police said in a statement Sunday they have arrested 1,626 people suspected of belonging to the command structures of Mexico's drug gangs since Calderon launched his offensive. They said 622 of the detainees belong to the Gulf cartel and 304 to the Sinaloa cartel. On Sunday, a judge formally charged an alleged leader of the Beltran Leyva cartel, Jose Gerardo Alvarez, with organized crime. Alvarez, who had a $2 million U.S. bounty on his head, was captured in April in a wealthy neighborhood on the outskirts of Mexico City. The federal government has steadily wiped out the leadership of the once-powerful Beltran Leyva cartel. In December, cartel boss Arturo Beltran Leyva was killed in a gunbattle. Two of his brothers are behind bars. A fourth brother, Hector Beltran Leyva, remains at large and is believed to be battling for control of the cartel against Edgar Valdez Villareal, a U.S.-born suspect known as "La Barbie." Mexican authorities say Alvarez partnered with Valdez in his quest for control of the gang.

Gay Love Triangle Ends in Murder!

Two men who were caught earlier this year with drugs, guns and thousands in counterfeit cash in Chicago are now sitting in a Louisville jail, accused of murder.

The bizarre story began with a love triangle involving the two suspects -- Jeffrey Mundt and Joseph Banis -- and a third man, whose identity is still being withheld by authorities.

Police say Mundt and Banis, both 38, were involved in a sexual relationship with that third man sometime late last year. But the pair hatched a scheme to rob him of drugs sometime in December and instead wound up killing him, according to Louisville police.

To hide the crime, Mundt and Banis apparently decided to put the body in a plastic tub and bury it beneath the basement of Mundt's aging home in the historic Old Louisville neighborhood, according to police.

The man was never reported missing, so no one ever came looking for him.

Then, in April, Banis and Mundt made a trip to Chicago. They got a room at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, where shortly after their arrival, Mundt handed a doorman a wet $100 bill. Skeptical, the doorman notified his bosses, the police were called, and the couple were taken into custody in the hotel lobby. A search of their room turned up about $50,000 in cash -- much of it fake -- knives, guns, and bottles of what's believed to be GHB, better known as the date rape drug, according to authorities.

Banis and Mundt were arrested, and a slew of charges were thrown at them. Mundt was initially held on a $50,000 bail, and Banis' bail was set at $200,000.  After a court hearing, both posted 10 percent bond and were allowed to leave the state, the Tribune reported.

Banis and Mundt returned home to Louisville. Then, on Thursday night, police there received a 9-1-1 call.

Mundt had locked himself in a bedroom and called for help, saying Banis was trying to break into the room with a hammer to kill him. Officers arrested Banis, and while questioning him, he said something they just didn't believe.

"You always get the, 'I know where a body is buried,'" Homicide Lt. Barry Wilkerson told the Louisville Courier-Journal. "You're normally on a wild goose chase. ... But this time there was actually something there."

Police listened intently to Banis' story -- that his boyfriend had killed a man six months before and buried his body in the basement -- and decided to follow-up. A patch of loose soil in the earthen floor under the old home seemed strange, and after getting a warrant, they dug it up. There, shoved in a plastic tub about four feet under the ground, they found the body of a man who had been shot and stabbed multiple times.

Now, Banis and Mundt are again behind bars, both charged in the murder. So far, the victim's identity has not been released, although police have spoken with his family, who said he often went without talking to them for long periods of time, so they never reported him missing. Source: NBC Chicago

Two Marines Attack Gay Man In Savannah

Two marines beat a 26-year-old gay man so severely early this morning that he was left unconscious in the streets of Savannah. The victim, Kieran Daly, is still hospitalized. The Savannah Morning News reports on the incident: "The officer caught up with the two men who were running away, identified as Keil Joseph Cronauer (photo in blue tee shirt), 22, and Christopher Charles Stanzel (photo in white tee shirt), 23. Police records show both men are stationed at Marine Corps Air Station in Beaufort, S.C. Cronauer and Stanzel told police they were being harassed by a gay man and wanted to get away from him. But witnesses painted a different picture, according to the report." "They told police one of the men grew angry because he thought Daly was winking at him and struck Daly in the back of the head with his fist, knocking him unconscious. Saturday night, from his bed at Memorial University Medical Center, Daly insisted he tried to convince the Marines he was not winking at them. 'The guy thought I was winking at him,' Daly said. 'I told him, 'I was squinting, man. ... I'm tired.'" "Daly said one of the men told him he demanded respect because he served in Iraq. And at least one hurled slurs at him as he tried to walk away. 'That's the last thing I remember is walking away,' Daly said." Daly, who only came out six months ago, suffered serious injuries which included bruising to the brain. he also experienced two seizures after the attack. Cronauer and Stanzel were arrested and charged for the possible hate crime. The paper also reports that the attack is being investigated by the police the Savannah police department's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender official.

Men Could Be Registered As "Sex Offenders" After Police Sex Sting

Palm Springs, California police, preparing to conduct a gay sex sting last summer, pushed the district attorney's office to agree in advance to pursue more severe penalties than in prior stings, court documents show. All 24 men arrested in the 2009 Warm Sands neighborhood sting, which police say stemmed from complaints of sex in public, now face charges that would require them to register for life as sex offenders. A District Attoney in the matter has told a prosecution team about the agreement with the police and instructed that anyone arrested in the sting could only plead under California Penal Code section 314, which calls for a lifetime sex offender registry.   Read the full story at The Desert Sun, it seems that the local community remains divided judging from the foregoing reader's comments:
You can be charged as a "sez offender" if you are caught peeing in public. Up to the DA to decide. If you have an over zealous DA who wants to give the appearence of "tough on crime". Many of them are just trying to get on the next rung up on the carrer ladder.
Our police should be commended for there efforts to eradicate these perverts

Alleged Killers Of Gay School Principal Arrested, Killers Met Victim In Chat Line

Montgomery County Maryland Police have charged two teens Monday in the murder of gay District of Columbia. middle school principal Brian Betts. Betts, 42, a principal at Shaw Middle School the District of Columbia and a lead figure in education reform efforts in the District, was found dead in his Silver Spring home April 15 by colleagues worried after he failed to show up for work. According to the Washington Post, Sharif Tau Lancaster and Alante Saunders, both 18, were charged with murder, robbery and a handgun violation. Police said that a third 18-year-old man was being held and that they expected that he would also be charged in the killing. Investigators say they think the trio used a phone hook-up line line to find a target to rob and Montgomery Police Chief J. Thomas Manger said today that there was no indication that Betts alleged killers had any relationship with Betts before he arranged a meeting with one or more of them on the phone line. District of Columbia officials also say that Lancaster and Saunders had recently escaped from the custody of a D.C. Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services home, but it was not clear whether they were considered escapees at the time of Betts’s killing. According to Chief Manger, investigators tracked the trio down after Lancaster, Saunders and Lancaster’s mother used credit cards stolen from Betts at several DC area businesses and from fingerprints police found in Betts home and in his stolen SUV.

Gay Basher Sent To Prison; Will Serve 12 Months Behind Bars

A Vancouver, Canada man who pleaded guilty to gay-bashing has been sentenced to 17 months in jail for what a British Columbia Supreme Court judge deemed a hate crime. Michael Kandola lashed out at Jordan Smith, who was holding hands with another man as they walked on a downtown Vancouver street in September 2008. Smith, then 27, suffered jaw fractures. The victim and witnesses said Kandola, then 20, uttered a string of homophobic slurs during the attack. Smith had to have surgery and his jaw was wired shut for six weeks after the attack. Calling Kandola's actions vicious, unprovoked and cowardly, B.C. Supreme Court Judge Joel Groves said hatred of Smith's sexual orientation was a motivating factor in the attack, and for that reason, he was meting out a harsher penalty. Kandola was originally charged with assault, but the Crown soon changed the charge to aggravated assault causing bodily harm. Graves said Kandola will get credit for the five months he already spent in jail, meaning he will spend 12 more months behind bars if he serves the full sentence. CBCNews.ca Reporting

Another Social Application Hookup Gone Wrong!

Authorities say a man was murdered by a teen he met through a cell phone application and took to his home last weekend. Phoenix Police Det. James Holmes said officers responded to a residence in the area of 40th Street and Greenway Road around midnight Sunday after a resident returned home to find his apartment ransacked. When officers went inside to check they found a downstairs bathroom door closed and the lights on inside, according to Holmes. They did not get an answer to a knock on the door. Holmes said when officers looked under the door they could see a body on the floor and when they forced the door open found the victim badly beaten. He also appeared to have been stabbed repeatedly, Holmes said. Phoenix firefighters were called to the home and the victim, 54-year-old Mark Woodland, was pronounced dead. Woodland's roommate reported he had received a text message from the victim around 5 p.m. saying he was going to pick up a male date, whom he met on a social networking application, and bring him home. Woodland apparently asked his roommate to not be at home. The victim reportedly sent a second text at around 6 p.m. to ensure that his roommate had left the apartment. The roommate left and returned around 11 p.m. to find the home ransacked. "It was like a scene out of a movie," Holmes said. "The roomate did the right thing calling police." Holmes said officers were able to locate a friend of the victim in California who reported Woodland had met his date through a "social network" and the friend provided the male's user name. Officials have not identified the social networking application the men used. During the investigation, a witness reported seeing Woodland walking upstairs with a white male, approximately 18 years old, around 8:30 p.m. Officers also saw that Woodland's wallet was open and empty in the living room area of the home. On Tuesday, detectives were able to locate the suspect in the area of 32nd Street and Broadway Road and when detectives contacted three males at the house, one of them apparently fit the suspect description. Tommy Reed, whose telephone was determined to be the same phone used to arrange the date with the victim, was transported to police headquarters for an interview. Holmes said Reed, 19, gave details about the night of the murder that implicated him in the crime. Reed was later booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail on one count of 2nd Degree Murder. Holmes said robbery may have been a motive for the murder. STORY FROM FOX 15.com

"It goes to show how dangerous the Internet can be," Holmes said. "Never bring a stranger to your house alone."

Man Sexually Assaults 15 year Old Boy He Met On Grindr

Grindr is an application that if you told a homosexual in the 1950s would one day exist, would probably fall over and die of a heart attack. Unlock your phone, click an icon, Grindr finds your location, and then shows you where other Grindr users around you. The purpose of the application? For gay, bi sexual, and curious men to hookup. Turns out that in Vancouver a 54 year old guy, and a 15 year old kid, got together via the application and things didn’t quite turn out so well. Police don’t exactly go into details, but the older gentleman was apprehended and charged with sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching and sexual assault. See Vancouver Sun “Advances in technology and social networking make it easier for our children to come into contact with individuals who may try to harm them or take advantage of them.” — Sex Crimes Unit Sargent Jeanette Theisen The 15 year old knew what he was doing. The application isn’t exactly shy about what it’s supposed to be used for. “Start chatting with local guys in seconds. The go-to place for gay, bi, and curious guys to meet, the location-based Grindr is free, fast, and fun. Simply launch Grindr to see local guys (the closest appear first) and view pictures, stats, and map locations at a tap.” That being said, when you’re 54 years old you should kind of know better than to attempt to get into the pants of a random 15 year old boy you meet off the internet. You’d have a much better chance at getting your fix of chocolate starfish by joining the Catholic Church.

From Grindr.com: "Based in Los Angeles, California, Grindr is a start-up dedicated to finding new ways for people to connect. Our mobile phone application uses creative technology to help users make new friends and reconnect with old ones." "Gay, bi, and curious guys looking for a date can find him on Grindr, a location-based mobile social networking app available on iTunes." "Grindr is mobile and works based on your location. Grindr uses the GPS technology in the iPhone and Wi-Fi in the iPod touch to determine your exact location and instantly shows photos of the guys around you."

Man Arrested For Killing Six Men; Hookups Made Online - BDSM Sex Games

A former pub singer in China’s Hunan province is suspected of coaxing six men to hang themselves while playing sex games. Zhou Youping (age 38 - photo right) is awaiting prosecution and facing murder charges regarding a series of hangings between October and November in Hunan’s capital Changsha. At least six of the cases involved deaths of men who were from out of town. No suicide note was found. Police found that Zhou had booked rooms under a pseudonym in two budget hotels where two of the six victims hanged themselves. He was arrested in November and confessed that he was responsible for the deaths of the six men whom he had met online. Zhou was a frequent visitor to an online chat room set up for homosexual relationships and he promised cash as well as other rewards. He demanded that the men should be his slaves in the hanging games, a media wire report said. He, however, said he watched for enjoyment and had nothing to do with the men before leaving the room. He said he left them to die as he hated them for their desire for money and other rewards. Three men survived Zhou’s hanging games.

Dragged Out Of The Closet State Senator Gets 2 Days for DUI

A state senator who opposed gay rights during his 14 years in the Legislature, then acknowledged he was gay after being busted for drunk driving after leaving a gay bar, was sentenced on Wednesday to 2 days in jail and 3 years probation. State Sen. Roy Ashburn, R-Bakersfield, "received no less than anybody else" for his first conviction, the state prosecutor told the Sacramento Bee. Ashburn, 55, pleaded no-contest through his attorney. Prosecutors said his blood alcohol content was .14 when he was pulled over in downtown Sacramento on March 4 at around 2 a.m. He later admitted that he had been at Faces, a popular gay bar. Ashburn will get credit for one day in custody and will work off his other day on a sheriff's work crew. He also must pay $2,480 in fines and fees.

Professor 'commits suicide' After Students Launch Gay Sex Sting

Srinivas Ramchander Siras, professor of modern languages at Aligarh Muslim University, was suspended from his job "on moral grounds" and evicted from his college accommodation after students broke in and filmed him with his partner. He was expected to return to his job later this month after the Allahabad High Court revoked his suspension and ordered him to be reinstated at a hearing last week. Neighbours called the police to his single room home on Monday and complained of a bad smell. He was found dead inside and detectives believe he had taken his own life. Homosexual rights campaigners accused students at the college and the media of driving Professor Siras to his death. Prince Manvendra Singh, India's first openly gay royal, said while homosexuality was no longer illegal in India, the battle against prejudice still had to be won "in people's hearts and minds." "I would rate this as a murder. These people need to be taken to task. What right did they have to attack his privacy? It was private, consensual sex and these students and television people got him to commit suicide," he said.
