Man Arrested For Killing Six Men; Hookups Made Online - BDSM Sex Games

A former pub singer in China’s Hunan province is suspected of coaxing six men to hang themselves while playing sex games. Zhou Youping (age 38 - photo right) is awaiting prosecution and facing murder charges regarding a series of hangings between October and November in Hunan’s capital Changsha. At least six of the cases involved deaths of men who were from out of town. No suicide note was found. Police found that Zhou had booked rooms under a pseudonym in two budget hotels where two of the six victims hanged themselves. He was arrested in November and confessed that he was responsible for the deaths of the six men whom he had met online. Zhou was a frequent visitor to an online chat room set up for homosexual relationships and he promised cash as well as other rewards. He demanded that the men should be his slaves in the hanging games, a media wire report said. He, however, said he watched for enjoyment and had nothing to do with the men before leaving the room. He said he left them to die as he hated them for their desire for money and other rewards. Three men survived Zhou’s hanging games.

Gay Man Handcuffs Himself To White House Fence

A gay ex-soldier from Sandusky, Ohio was arrested Thursday in Washington, D.C., after handcuffing himself to the fence in front of the White House. At about 1:55 p.m., James Pietrangelo II, 44, who moved to Sandusky in the summer of 2009, was arrested by U.S. Park Police along with Dan Choi, 29, a gay Iraq war veteran from New York City, officials said. Pietrangelo and Choi said nothing as park officers removed their handcuffs using a skeleton key of sorts and took them into custody, said Sgt. David Schlosser, a park police spokesman. “They were very cooperative,” Schlosser said. “This was classic demonstration-type stuff. They were looking to make their point, not cause destruction, violence, mayhem or anything like that.” Dressed in military uniforms, the pair were charged with failure to obey a lawful order, a misdemeanor offense, which generally carries punishments ranging from reprimands to a stint in jail, Schlosser said. U.S. Park regulations require protesters to remain in motion while demonstrating, a caveat which Pietrangelo and Choi clearly violated, officials said. They were taken to the city’s central cell block. Pietrangelo had a court hearing Friday where he was arraigned. Officials say Pietrangelo and Choi carried no signs and did not vocalize their motive for shackling themselves to the fence, but an article in the New York Daily Post says the pair were surrounded by protesters who chanted, “’Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ has got to go.” Numerous videos and photos posted on CNN.com, YouTube and on various gay-rights blogs show two men in military uniform identified as Choi and Pietrangelo walking with chanting protesters, standing in front of the White House fence, or talkng in front of a federal courthouse after their release. Pietrangelo and Choi are fervent opponents of the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy, which prevents gay and lesbian soldiers from openly declaring their sexual preferences. Last year, Pietrangelo tried to legally challenge the constitutionality of the policy, but the U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear his case. Pietrangelo and 11 other petitioners contended their military discharges violated their free speech, due process and equal protection rights under the First and Fifth Amendments, court records show. But the lower courts dismissed their challenge, the appeals court upheld the lower court’s decision, and the Supreme Court rejected the case.
Two soldiers — presumably Choi and Pietrangelo — spoke earlier on Thursday at a rally organized by the Human Rights Campaign to decry “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” The stunt in front of the White House allegedly was an extension of that rally. The Daily News article says that Choi is contesting the New York National Guard’s attempts to kick him out for openly declaring he’s gay. In a 2009 interview with Time magazine, Pietrangelo condemned President Barack Obama for failing to live up to his promise to repeal “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” Pietrangelo joined the military in 1991 as an infantryman, but was kicked out in 2004 for openly declaring he is homosexual, according to the Time article. Calls made to Pietrangelo’s cell phone went directly to voicemail and relatives could not be reached for comment. In an unrelated case, Pietrangelo is suing the Sandusky Library and a couple of Sandusky police officers for allegedly violating his civil rights by kicking him out of the library and barring him from the public entity. In all of his legal endeavors, Pietrangelo represents himself.

LAPD VICE STING: More Men Having Sex In Public Parks Get Busted

An increase in males having sex in public parks in northeast Los Angeles has resulted in more of them being arrested on suspicion of performing lewd acts, Los Angeles police vice officers said today. More than 90 males were arrested in 2009 -- up from 75 in 2008 -- on suspicion of lewd conduct in the Northeast area, including Elysian Park, Griffith Park and Sycamore Grove Park, and police want to curtail the trend. "We took two stations out on an undercover operation," LAPD Vice Sgt. Lisa Phillips said at a news conference today. "The whole purpose, intention and goal of this operation is to get the word out to the community at large that this is a serious problem." During the news conference, police showed video of arrests made by undercover officers. The video also showed park areas littered with used condoms. "Many participants have been arrested frequently for the same activity and claim to be married and heterosexual," according to a police statement. Police warned that some of the males have been assaulted and robbed by gang members during their sexual encounters.Other park users are complaining about the public sexual encounters, police said. "Numerous complaints from people utilizing the parks for jogging, picnics, bicycling and similar activities are also a contributing factor," the statement said. Police also expressed concern that some of those arrested had engaged in unsafe sex, which increases the risk of spreading sexually transmitted diseases.

Three Charged With Hate Crime For Alleged Anti-Gay Attack On Train

Three Evanston, Illinois men are charged with a hate crime for an attack on a man they perceived to be gay, according to the Cook County State's Attorney's office. (Photo left to right Sean Little, Benjamin Eder, Kevin McAndrew) The attack happened January 10 on a CTA Red Line train. The three men allegedly began making "anti-gay" remarks to a passenger. Another passenger got involved and the men then physically attacked him. Prosecutors say the men beat the 33-year-old victim and called him "faggot" and other derogatory terms. The fight spilled out to the platform when the train stopped at the Argyle Station and police came and broke it up. The men charged are Sean Little, 21, Benjamin Eder, 23, and Kevin McAndrew, 23. They were originally charged with misdemeanor battery. The hate crime charges were filed yesterday. If convicted, they face a maximum 5 year sentence. “The damage of a crime such as this goes well beyond the original victim and permeates the entire community," said State's Attorney Anita Alvarez in a press release. "These crimes are taken seriously and they will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.” Bond for each suspect was set at $10,000.

Malawi Man Arrested For Posting Gay Rights Posters

Malawian police have arrested a man for allegedly putting up posters supporting homosexuality, which is illegal in the southern African nation. Peter Sawali was charged this week with conduct likely to cause breach of peace, said police spokesman Davie Chingwalu. Sawali, 21, was putting up posters that read, "Gay rights are human rights," on a busy road in the city of Blantyre, the spokesman said. The man had stacks of glossy posters with the same message in his possession, according to the spokesman. An investigation is under way to seek more suspects, because Sawali said he was not acting alone. "Homosexuality is illegal in Malawi and is punishable by prison time and hard labor," Chingwalu said. "Basically, he was promoting a criminal act. This is what this is all about." If convicted, Sawali would face up to five months in prison, hard labor and a fine of about 2,000 kwacha ($14), police said. Homosexuality is a largely taboo subject in Malawi. In late December, Steven Monjeza, 26, and Tiwonge Chimbalanga, 20, were arrested and charged with public indecency after they became engaged in the country. The two pleaded not guilty and were detained pending trial. They are thought to be the first openly gay couple to pursue a public marriage in Malawi, according to the spokesman. An investigation also is under way to determine whether Sawali is linked to the couple. The arrests have sparked international outcry from human rights organizations. Last month, Human Rights Watch wrote a letter to Malawi's government, accusing it of threatening citizens' fundamental rights. "Prosecuting two adults just because they affirm their love is a terrible injustice," said Dipika Nath, of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights program at the New York-based organization. The country is abiding by its constitution, the spokesman said. "All these countries want to impose their culture on us, but homosexuality is a crime, according to the penal code in Malawi," he said. Those found guilty of homosexuality in Malawi face a maximum of 14 years in jail. Report From CNN

Gay Olympic Equestrian Rider Arrested For Hiding STD Status From His Boyfriend

A former Olympic equestrian rider has been arrested in central Florida, accused of failing to tell his former partner that he carried a sexually transmitted disease. According to a Marion County Florida Sheriff's Office affidavit, Darren Chiacchia was arrested Wednesday. He has been released on $2,000 bond. Chiacchia's former partner told investigators that he discovered Chiacchia's medical paperwork while vacationing in New York with the 2004 U.S. Olympic equestrian team member. The 45-year-old Chiacchia is also a Florida Horse Park board member, a 2003 Pan American gold medalist, and a prominent activist for the county's equestrian community. He also has a farm in the area and teaches students to ride. The charge is a third-degree felony degree; it could be upgraded to a first-degree felony if Chiacchia is found to have committed multiple violations of the crime. The victim told deputies that, while he and Chiacchia were vacationing in New York, the victim saw some of Chiacchia's medical documents. The report redacts what those documents said, but the law Chiacchia is accused of breaking -- Florida Statute 384.24(2) -- makes it unlawful for any person who knowingly has "human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection" to have sex with another person and not tell them prior to the act. The victim told investigators that he asked Chiacchia at the beginning of their relationship about his medical "status" and that Chiacchia told him he was negative for any infection. The State Attorney's Office issued a subpoena for Chiacchia's medical records and obtained them. However, Circuit Judge Edward Scott ordered that the medical records be used only as part of the Sheriff's Office investigation. Chiacchia tells The Associated Press the allegations are shocking and upsetting and "in the end the truth will prevail." Story Ocala News via AP

Gay-Bashing Suspect Tracked, Turns Out Suspect is US Military Hero

Last September DJ Blake Hayes (pictured left), and cabaret and Broadway performer Danny Calvert were attacked outside of McCoy's Bar in Hell's Kitchen, along with their friend Alec Bell. They claimed a man flicked a cigarette at them while saying, "Keep moving, faggots." When the trio quipped about the man's bald head, he became enraged, physically assaulted them, and said, "Die of AIDS, you fucking queers." To add insult to injury, the police officers who showed up refused to take their attacker's information, or let them file a claim, and the bouncer who witnessed the attack allowed the man back into the bar. After City Council Speaker Christine Quinn spoke up on behalf of the vicitms of the bias attack, Police Commissioner Kelly’s office agreed to conduct an investigation. Now, the Daily News reports that it's turned into an international investigation, with the NYPD having tracked down the suspect, Air Force Staff Sgt. Benjamin Ford (pictured right), in England. Ford's job is "to help protect the President and other world leaders," and he was in town last September when Obama was speaking at the UN. An NYPD detective stationed in London tracked Ford down after he was fingered as the suspect by the Hate Crimes Task Force, and Ford admitted to being on the scene that night, but says Hayes, Calvert and Bell started the fight. It was all caught on tape, however, and allegedly that footage shows Ford as the one to lash out. While Ford has yet to be formally charged, officials say that the U.S. military plan to try him and serve up the appropriate punishment if he is found guilty.

Two men are facing charges in Dubai (UAE) for allegedly offering sexual services on the internet. They faced Dubai’s Criminal Court of First Instance on Tuesday. The National reports that one 22 year old man is charged with prostitution, consensual homosexual sex, producing pornographic material, cross-dressing and insulting religion, while the second, an 18-year-old student, is facing prostitution charges. Homosexuality is illegal in the United Arab Emirates, and if found guilty both face a minimum of three and a maximum of 15 years in prison. According to the prosecution, the 22 year old man was arrested at Dubai International Airport in July 20 in possession of homemade pornographic material. He has denied the charges. He’s being held in solitary confinement at Al Qusais police station, to protect him from other prisoners. He is due to appear in court on January 20. The 18 year old is accused of soliciting men for sex using internet chat rooms. He has also denied the charges. Man Turns Himself In, Faces Charges In Attack On Gay Man At Bar

A Redwood City, California man wanted for allegedly beating up a man because of he was gay turned himself in to the Sheriff's Office around noon Wednesday. Cole White, 24, surrendered a day after a judge signed a $50,000 arrest warrant charging him with assault and a hate crime allegation. "He provided a brief statement and said he would like to speak to an attorney," Santa Cruz police spokesman Zach Friend said. An alleged anti-gay assault that took place at a Santa Cruz club has led to an arrest warrant being issued for the suspected assailant. The warrant for the arrest of 24-year-old Cole White was issued Jan. 5, reported local newspaper the Santa Cruz Sentinel that same day. White is wanted for allegedly beating a man in his early 30s identified only as Chris. Both men had been at gay-friendly club Blue Lagoon, the article said; according to the victim’s account, as told to ABC News, White called Chris a "fag" outside the establishment, at which point Chris took his photo with his cell phone. "I turned to the person and I said, ’You know what? I am gay, I’m walking down the street, and I’m sorry you have a problem with it,’" Chris recounted. "And he started to come at me," the victim added. Later, when both men were inside, the victim reportedly asked White about his having yelled anti-gay slurs at him. At that point, the report said, White launched into an attack, punching Chris, knocking him down, and beating him. The assault left the victim with cuts, bruises, and a broken nose. Said Santa Cruz Police Department spokesperson Zach Friend, "This is a very disappointing thing to hear that in our community, in this day and age, that we would have this kind of issue, this kind of intolerance, that someone would be attacked exclusively because of their sexual orientation. It is inexcusable and unconscionable." Club manager Fred Friedman offered a different account of events, saying that the two clashed on the dance floor, then went outside to settle the matter. Friedman said that fighting is not tolerated at the club; those involved were ejected and will not be allowed back on the premises.

Malawi Police Arrest 2 Men for Engagement Ceremony

A gay couple was jailed for "gross indecency" in Malawi after the country's first same-sex public wedding ceremony over the weekend, as several African states were clamping down on homosexuality. A police spokesman told AFP that Tiwonge Chimbalanga and Steven Monjeza, the first Malawian gays to publicly wed in a symbolic ceremony on Saturday "will appear in court soon to answer charges of gross indecency." Homosexuality is banned in the conservative southern African country where the public discussion of sex is still taboo. Malawi's penal code outlaws homosexuality and sodomy, which is punishable by a maximum of 14 years in jail. Countries such as Uganda, Senegal and Burundi have intensified their efforts to repress homosexuality in a continent where 38 out of 53 countries have criminalised consensual gay sex. Hundreds of people attended Saturday's ceremony held at a guesthouse in Blantyre and spiced with traditional and hip-hop music. The couple wore traditional robes. "I went there to see for myself a gay couple," Finiasi Chikaoneka, one of the hundreds of people who thronged the venue, told AFP. "There were many people who were just curious about the whole affair because this was the first time that gays have come out openly," he added. Monjeza told the crowd he and Chimbalanga had been living together for five months, having first met at church. The Malawi law society, a grouping of some 150 lawyers in Malawi, has condemned the wedding, saying it was illegal and "against the order of nature." The society's secretary, Mercy Mulele, was quoted by the Daily Times urging police action as the wedding was "against the laws of Malawi." Gift Trapenze, who heads the centre for the Development of People (Cedep), which fights for gays, prostitutes and prisoners, defended the couple, saying "they were expressing their legal rights." He said the wedding was aimed at "testing" Malawi laws which were silent on such matters. "The two individuals were expressing their sexual orientation as human beings. The police should not interfere in this matter," he told AFP. The government does however recognise the existence of gays in Malawi and often calls on them to come out so as to help in the fight against AIDS, which affects around 14 percent of the 13 million population. Trapence said 21.4 percent of gays were infected with HIV. He said gays had been driven underground because of fear of the anti-gay culture and imprisonment. The anti-homosexuality laws on the continent have sparked condemnation from local and international rights groups. The Ugandan government drew worldwide condemnation for its proposed Anti-Homosexuality Bill that would punish homosexuality with life imprisonment, and threatens anybody who promotes homosexuality with jail. In Senegal a group of 24 men were arrested on Christmas Eve for allegedly engaging in homosexual acts and holding an authorised party. They were released the following day but remain under investigation. In April, Burundi President Pierre Nkurunziza promulgated a bill that made homosexuality an offence punishable by up to two years in prison. Human rights groups have condemned the move, saying the government's treatment of gays and lesbians is worsening.

Actor Charlie Sheen Arrested In Colorado

Charlie Sheen spent the better part of Christmas Day in a Colorado jail cell after being arrested on domestic violence allegations. The 44-year-old actor was taken into custody Friday morning by officers responding to a 911 call from a house in this ski resort town about 200 miles west of Denver. An ambulance went to the house, but the accuser was not taken to the hospital. Sheen, the star of CBS' "Two and a Half Men," was taken to the Pitkin County jail and booked for investigation of second-degree assault and menacing, both felonies, along with criminal mischief, a misdemeanor, Aspen police spokeswoman Stephanie Dasaro said. He was released in the late afternoon after posting $8,500 bond and being advised by a county judge on the conditions of his release, she said. Dasaro declined to name Sheen's accuser, citing a department policy prohibiting the identification of potential victims in domestic violence cases. Aspen attorney Richard Cummins said late Friday that he was representing Sheen in the case. He declined to name Sheen's accuser or discuss details, but he cautioned against any rush to judgment. "I think at the end of the day it will be much ado about nothing," Cummins told The Associated Press. "I don't think there's any criminality about what went on." Cummins said a court date was set for Feb. 8. "That may be to determine whether a case goes forward or not," he said. Sheen's publicist Stan Rosenfield also warned against making assumptions. "It would benefit everyone not to jump to any conclusion," he said. Sheen is the son of actor Martin Sheen and brother of actor-director Emilio Estevez. He is married to Brooke Mueller Sheen, a real estate investor who gave birth to the couple's first children, twin boys, in March. They married in May 2008 following Sheen's bitter divorce and custody battle with actress Denise Richards. * The star of "Platoon," "Wall Street" and the "Hot Shots!" movies has had run-ins with the law before. In December 1996, he was arrested and charged with attacking a girlfriend at his Southern California home. He later pleaded no contest and was placed on two years' probation. In 1998, his father turned him in for violating his parole after a cocaine overdose sent him to the hospital. He was later ordered to undergo a rehabilitation program. Source: AP News
