Snake Oil Shop?

matthew_whitePastor Matthew C. Manning, a prominent proponent of the "ex-gay" movement and leader of Lighthouse World Evangelism in Santa Rosa, California has a long history of arrests for public sexual misconduct.  Manning claims he was "delivered from homosexuality" in 1989 and miraculously healed of AIDS through prayer in 1994.  He first gained noteriety on Roseanne Barr's talk show, and has appeared on numerous Christian television broadcasts, including The 700 Club and several episodes of The Joni Show on CBN, alongside Exodus president Alan Chambers and Focus on the Family's Mike Haley.

David Roberts of Ex-Gay Watch located arrest records on Manning over the past 11 years on charges of sexual misconduct and/or lewd public acts:
  • In 1998, Manning was arrested for soliciting sex from a male undercover police officer in a public park near Hansen Dam in Los Angeles.  The charges were dismissed or not prosecuted.
  • In 2000, Manning was arrested for soliciting or engaging in lewd public behavior in North Hollywood.  He pleaded not guilty and demanded a jury trial, and was acquited in 2001.
  • In 2005, Manning was arrested at a 24-Hour Fitness gym in Santa Rosa and charged with misdemeanor sexual battery for inappropriately touching a 22-year-old man against his will.  Manning entered a plea deal, and received a restraining order to stay away from both the victim and the gym for one year.
According to its website, Lighthouse World Evangelism's philosphy is to "recognize the primacy of the spiritual truth revealed in the Bible and incarnate in Jesus Christ, and acknowledges that all truth, wherever it is found, is of God.  All truth finds its unity in God." Responding to the arrests, Truth Wins Out director Wayne Besen said,
"We call on Manning to immediately close down his snake oil shop. We also urge those in the media who promoted his fake miracle to apologize and update their audience on the sordid facts that have been revealed.”
Roberts is conducint ongoing research on Manning's criminal past and says the results will be posted on Ex-Gay Watch in the next few days.  He is asking anyone who has had their own experience with Manning to contact him with any pertinent information. Reprinted From Article By Kelvin Lynch

“Gay” exorcism?

Exorcism

Found this on the Fox61 Connecticut Web site today and it really freaked me out, can you imagine? It’s a news report about a church called “Manifested Glory Ministries” and a video the church posted on YouTube showing a 20 minute “exorcism” in which church leaders try to cast out the “homosexual demons” in a teenage boy. They have reportedly taken down the YouTube account, but the news reporter says the video is still available on other Internet sites.

Gay Magazine Makes Comeback

bombaymain

India’s first and only gay magazine is back on news stands for the first time in seven years amid hopes that taboos may finally be fading in a country where homosexuality remains illegal. Bombay Dost (Bombay Friends) is being relaunched after going out of print in 2002 when the then underground publication ran out of money. The English-language magazine’s publishers say that much has changed in India during the intervening years — even if a British colonial-era law banning sex “against the order of nature” remains firmly in place.
“India’s gay community is still illegal, but it is more confident and happier than ever before,” Nitin Karani, the editor-at-large, said. “We’re not constantly beating our breasts over discrimination and marginalisation. The new magazine reflects that.”
The original Bombay Dost was treated as contraband, Mr Karani said. Unavailable in bookstores, it was sold only by roadside vendors and often wrapped in plain brown paper. Inside, a typical article would give advice on how to set up an anonymous post box, to help gay men avoid being outed. By contrast, the new magazine is being carried by major bookstores and promises to be “bolder than ever” after holding a launch event attended by a smattering of Bollywood stars. Even so, where its British equivalent, Attitude, features scores of pictures of near-naked models and celebrities and sells in the tens of thousands, Bombay Dost has only one shot of Mr Gay India in swimming trunks and an initial print run of 1,500. Most of the Indian glossy’s 56 pages are filled with lengthy book and art reviews, alongside features on gay rights issues both in India and overseas. The magazine, which will cost 150 rupees, will be published twice a year and has been promised funding by the United Nations Development Programme for the next three years. There are hopes that urban India is gradually becoming more tolerant. The first Gay Pride march to be held in Delhi, the capital, took place last year – the largest event of its kind in the country. The recent Bollywood film Dostana was heralded as groundbreaking in its treatment of gay themes — even though its two male heroes were only pretending to be gay in order to try to charm a girl. Gay Man Gunned Down

markharrisThe sexual orientation of a Delray Beach, Florida man gunned down in his driveway is being considered a possible motive for his killing. Police have not ruled out the fact that 30-year-old Mark Harris' homosexual lifestyle may have contributed to his murder. Harris was killed Monday, May 11 around 8:30 at night as he was unloading groceries from his car parked at his 7th Avenue home. The shooter fired more than half dozen bullets in Harris’s back at close range and police don't believe he was robbed. Harris was a manager at Best Western Hotel in Boca Raton and police say he had a clean criminal record.
"I can't think of any reason that would justify something so horrible like this," his friend said.  "We are all in so much shock."
Delray Beach says it's too early to speculate this was a hate crime.
"We don't know at this point," Sgt. Russ Mager said. "It's a possibility but there's no way to say that by any means that is it."
The shady trees and tall buildings surrounding Harris’s house are making things even more difficult for police. Although many people heard the bullets, there are no immediate witnesses. Police say the suspect may have been driving a white vehicle.

Gay Cops to Be Banned

police

Peru has announced that it will ban homosexuals from the police force for damaging the image of the institution. The law is one of several new regulations put forward by the Interior Minister, Mercedes Cabanillas. Ms Cabanillas is trying to shake up the institution, which has a dismal reputation among the general public. But critics say some of the new laws, especially those regarding sexual orientation or activity, are unconstitutional. The law states that any police officer who has sexual relations with someone of the same gender will be indefinitely suspended from the police force. The same applies to officers who have extra-marital relations - their actions are also deemed to cause scandal and denigrate the institution's image. They are among a raft of new regulations, which also include provision for sacking police officers who accept bribes, organise or take part in strikes and protest marches. Ms Cabanillas' strong-arm tactics have earned her some public backing and the nickname "Thatcher" in the Peruvian media, after the former Conservative British Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher. Traditional machismo means openly homosexual police men are extremely scarce, but gay rights activists are growing in strength and this new law will provoke a debate. 8 Tips For Straight Men

learnmain

Eight Things Straight Men Can Learn From Gay Porn. Simcha Whitehill, a girl from New York City wrote this article that I just thought was so funny and very informative. Maybe we can use her story to better prepare ourselves when we invite the straight boy next door over. Her article also recently appeared on TheFrisky.com. Here is her article:
I’ve tried—and mostly failed—to get my boyfriends to watch guy-on-guy porn with me. Sure, they’re always game to watch pseudo-lesbians paw each other, but they always draw the line at sweet man love! But seriously folks, there’s a lot a guy could learn about lovin’ a lady by watching two dudes go at it. So, since it doesn’t seem like I’ll ever be able to get a man to come around to the hotness that is homosexual XXX vids, I’ve decided to give guys the cheat sheet of things they could learn from gay porn....
1.) We All Want To Feel Someone (Up The Butt): You heard me. Men always take the blame for wanting anal sex, but a lot of women want to stick it to men too. After all, you men have actually got something back there that’ll get you off—your prostate. All I’m sayin’ is, you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours.   2.) Be Aggressive: Gay porn often is a little rougher, while still consensual. Something about a man throwing you up against the wall just to kiss you is sexy to the max. It shows you want to do me, with passion. I’m not made of porcelain, I won’t break. So, feel free to let me know how bad you want it.   3.) Wear Nice Underwear: Packaging does a lot for a package. Now, leopard banana hammocks are a more of a niche market, but just a decent pair of tightie-whities is a total improvement.   4.) Role Equality: We both have the ability to be “the top” or “the bottom.” And sometimes I want to be one taking the lead, and sometimes I don’t. That doesn’t make anyone less of a woman or a man for that matter.   5.) Trim Your Hedges: Our secret gardens are always growing, so you’ve got to maintain it. No one is saying you’ve got to weed the whole place, but you know, you gotta keep up with your manscaping.   6.) Location, Location, Location: Why don’t we do it in the hall? Or in the pool? Or in our military bunker—wait. Well, you get the idea.   7.) Orgasms Aren’t Optional: It not over until we both have our money shot finish. Hey, we both need to get what we came for.   8.) Lube Job: Feel free to use lube. Yes, I know I make it magically, but every little bit counts.

9 go to Prison

ap_senegal_090108_mnNine men, including a prominent activist, have been convicted of homosexual acts and sentenced to eight years in prison, their lawyer and a gay rights group said Thursday. Diadji Diouf, who heads an organization that provides HIV prevention services to gay men in Senegal, and the others were arrested last month in a raid on Diouf's apartment. The arrests came just weeks after Senegal hosted an international AIDS conference that included gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender participants.

Senegal, a primarily Muslim nation in West Africa, is one of 38 countries on the continent that criminalize homosexual acts, according to Joel Nana, Africa research and policy coordinator with the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission in Cape Town, South Africa. South Africa prompted a continentwide controversy in 2006 when it became the first African country to legalize gay marriage.

The nine convicted men were sentenced for unnatural acts and criminal conspiracy, said Nana. "This is the first case that we've heard of in Senegal where people actually got sentenced," he said, calling the punishment long and harsh. Attorney Issa Diop said his clients would appeal the sentences handed down late Tuesday. "It is a deliberate will to penalize them," Diop said, noting that the maximum punishment for such cases in Senegal is set at five years. Diouf's organization, AIDES Senegal, provides condoms and HIV treatment out of his home."It is a strong message of hatred, a strong message of division when we know it is critical at this point to address HIV in these communities," Nana said.

Gay Hate Crimes Rise

FBI Report Shows Gay Hate Crimes Up for Third Year In a Row

Tuesday 28th October 2008 A new FBI report has revealed that while the number of hate crimes overall in the United States have dropped, hate crimes against homosexuals have risen. There were 7,624 hate crimes reported across the US in 2007, although the number of actual hate crimes could be larger as many people are afraid to report hate attacks. Those numbers reflect a small drop, about 1%, of hate crimes from the 2006 numbers. Hate crimes based on sexual orientation, including all gays, lesbians and bisexuals and some attacks on transgender individuals that were based on the assumption the victim was gay, rose to 1,265. That’s an increase of about 6% from 2006. Hate crimes against the LGB community have been rising steadily in the past few years, even as racially based hate crimes drop. Hate crimes against gays were the third most common crimes, with attacks on African-Americans and Jews being the first and second most common hate crimes. As crimes against gays grew, so too did attacks on certain other communities. Attacks against Muslims dropped, a trend some analysts attribute to the effects of 9/11 waning. However, Latino and Asian individuals were targeted more as the economy worsened. Some analysts suggest that people are taking out their frustration with the poor economy by blaming immigrants for “taking their jobs”. Criminologist Jack Levin of Northwestern University told USA Today: "Working-class Americans feel they have to compete more with immigrants.” While hate crime attacks on gays increased, in many places anti-gay attacks are not classed as hate crimes. More than a third of the states in the country do not include sexual orientation in their hate crime laws. This means, in practice, that attacks on gays and lesbians in 19 states are treated as simple assault, vandalism or intimidation. The punishment for assault is far less than the mandatory sentences given to people convicted of hate crimes, so anti-gay attackers in those states do not face stiff penalties for their hate crimes. Neil Giuliano, president of the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, told USA Today: "Until we make laws that make it clear these attacks are not OK, the nation will continue to be scarred." The FBI report draws on reports from nearly 14,000 law enforcement agencies across the country. The report itself is a simple statistical report, and does not attempt to explain the rise or fall in hate crimes against certain groups although many analysts have attempted to give explanations themselves.
