Two Gay Men Arrested For Cruising On The Internet

Two men are facing charges in Dubai (UAE) for allegedly offering sexual services on the internet. They faced Dubai’s Criminal Court of First Instance on Tuesday. The National reports that one 22 year old man is charged with prostitution, consensual homosexual sex, producing pornographic material, cross-dressing and insulting religion, while the second, an 18-year-old student, is facing prostitution charges. Homosexuality is illegal in the United Arab Emirates, and if found guilty both face a minimum of three and a maximum of 15 years in prison. According to the prosecution, the 22 year old man was arrested at Dubai International Airport in July 20 in possession of homemade pornographic material. He has denied the charges. It’s alleged that he circulated images of himself in make up and dressed in a hijab-like veil, reading the Quran. He’s being held in solitary confinement at Al Qusais police station, to protect him from other prisoners. He is due to appear in court on January 20. The 18 year old is accused of soliciting men for sex using internet chat rooms. He has also denied the charges. According to court documents the accused was discovered by an undercover officer in an online chat room.

Florida Police Works Gay.com Yielding 16 yr Prison Term For Public Figure Who Drove For Sex With Minor Boy

icac-patchA former public works director for Robertsdale, Alabama. was sentenced to more than 16 years in prison Friday after being found guilty of traveling to Pensacola, Florida to have sex with a minor. In March, David Allen Girard, 53, was arrested when he drove to Pensacola to meet and engage in sexual activity with who he thought was a 14-year-old boy. The boy was actually a member of the North Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, who was posing as a child on the Web site GAY.COM.

According to a U.S. Attorney's Office news release, Girard contacted the "14-year-old boy," actually an undercover officer, through the site, discussed engaging in sexual activity with him, and arranged a meeting in Pensacola. When Girard arrived at the meeting place, he was taken in to custody by law enforcement.   Girard had condoms and personal lubrication in his possession when he was arrested, the release said. Girard was already a registered sex offender, due to a 2001 conviction in Alabama for possessing child pornography. U.S. District Court Judge Casey Rodgers sentenced Girard on Friday to 195 months in prison followed by a lifetime term of supervised release for the latest conviction.

My dearest colleague and editor extraordinaire of Unzipped Media, informed me today that the magazines are moving into special editions and will publish individual - double-sized special editions with a distribution and press 4 times a year as opposed to the rather short monthly issues we have gotten forever. What Keeps You Up All Night Surfing The Internet?

computer_latenightIt's 11 p.m. Do you know where your neighbors are? Chances are they're online. According to a study, North Americans have been staying up late to do their Internet surfing this summer, so late that the peak usage for the whole day has been at 11 p.m. Eastern time. That appears to be a shift from previous years, when most Internet activity was in the daytime. The new study by Internet security firm Arbor Networks found that people using the Internet at work and school produce a smaller traffic peak around 4 p.m. Eastern time on weekdays. Internet activity then declines as people head home. At 8 p.m. Eastern, U.S. and Canadian home Internet traffic starts spiking, and stays surprisingly strong past midnight, Arbor found. At 2 a.m. Eastern, overall traffic is as high as it is at 9 a.m., when people are logging in at work. Of course, 11 p.m. Eastern time is 8 p.m. on the West Coast. But the Eastern and Central time zones account for three-quarters of the U.S. population, so it's clear there's lot of late-night traffic. It also seems that North Americans are staying up much later on the Internet than Europeans. Their traffic peaks when it's 9 p.m. in Western and Central Europe, and then drops sharply. So what is it that keeps us up at night? Internet video, including YouTube and pornography, appears to be a big part of the answer, according to Arbor's Craig Labovitz. Video usage peaks at midnight Eastern, later than any other traffic. Gaming is another big evening activity, but one that's most intense between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. Eastern, coinciding with TV's prime time for most Americans. arborLogoArbor gathers data from Internet service providers that account for about half of North American traffic. The study looked at 10 weekdays in July.

Yahoo Has New Front Page

t1soft_yahoo_new_home_courtesyA significant redesign is finally coming to the Yahoo.com home page, one of the most well-traveled destinations on the Internet, and the company's search page will follow suit starting next month. Yahoo plans to let people in the United States start selecting a new, more personalized version of the home page beginning Tuesday afternoon. The revamp lets people select basic applications to use not just Yahoo sites, but also others' such as eBay, Facebook, and Twitter, said Tapan Bhat, Yahoo's senior vice president for consumer experiences. These applications are available on the left side of the page under a customizable section called My Favorites; hovering over them with the mouse pointer makes each application and its accompanying advertising pop up.
"We're pulling together everything about the user they care about, be it on Yahoo or off, to create a personally relevant experience," Bhat said. "In a world like this, Yahoo needs to make the user experience come first."
The effort is a centerpiece of Yahoo's effort to revitalize its core business: showing content and accompanying advertisements to a large, general audience on the Net. Yahoo's profitability for years has trailed that of its main rival, Google, which depends chiefly on search ads for revenue, and Yahoo faces increasing pressure from Microsoft's online business and new arrivals such as Facebook as well. The company also hopes for more success with advertisers. "We're creating great opportunities for advertisers to target content and context," he said, demonstrating a movie application that showed a prominent ad along with movie showtimes locally tailored for a particular user.

The My Favorites feature will arrive on Yahoo's search page, too, making the search site and results shown on it into more of a portal to access content. Yahoo faces search pressure from dominant Google and now to a certain extent from Microsoft's Bing, too. Even if it consummates a possible search and advertising deal with Microsoft, being able to show its own display ads in applications adjacent to search results could help the company extract more money from its search operation. The trickster said the prank, broadcast on a Miami TV station, showed it's possible to get around Cuba's security.
"Guess where I am and I will make love to you without stopping," Antonio Castro Soto del Valle, Fidel's son and physician for the Cuban national baseball team, reportedly wrote "Claudia" during a January trip to Russia with his uncle Raúl.
But "Claudia" turned out to be Luis Domínguez, a Cuban-born Miamian who unveiled the sting on Americateve TV Channel 41 in Miami, saying it was designed to "shatter the myth of an impenetrable" security system. "Claudia's" cyber-boyfriend never revealed any state secrets and made no mention of Fidel during their more than 20 Internet chats. But he sent her what he said were his phone number and home address in Havana, wrote that he had no bodyguards and gave advance notice of a trip to Mexico — all breaches of the tight secrecy that has always surrounded Fidel Castro's family life. And when rumors swept Miami in mid January that Fidel Castro had died, Domínguez said that he assured Americateve that the rumors were likely false because Antonio was keeping up his regular chats with his cyber-girlfriend.
