Just So You Know: "If people want to say that, they can. But I'm not. I'm straight." -

Daniel Radcliffe has dismissed rumours about his sexuality, declaring that he's not gay, according to reports. The Harry Potter star made the comment while being interviewed by MTV in the US. Asked about his sexuality, Daniel is quoted as saying: "If people want to say that, they can. But I'm not. I'm straight." He added: "My favourite thing, I saw was a guy on the internet who said, 'Of course he's gay. He's got a gay face,' which I thought was kind of an odd thing to say anyway." "A 'gay face'? That's a very worrying thing, like they have sat at home and have got pictures of me next to other famous, gay (people)," he reportedly said. Daniel, 20, who famously stripped naked for his stage role in Equus, spoke after making a major donation to a crisis and suicide prevention helpline for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth.

Jersey Shore Star Apologizes For Use of Gay Slurs

Jersey Shore star Ronnie Magro has issued an apology for the homophobic rampage he went on during one of his many fights on the freshman MTV reality series. The hothead gets in so many brawls, it's hard to even keep them straight. But after letting loose some gay slurs in one of the, Ronnie says he got carried away. Blaming the whole ordeal on "the heat of the moment," Ronnie says he's sorry for the disgusting rant in question, which was made public earlier this week. Never-before-seen footage of his first Jersey Shore brawl leaked online, and made Ronnie look like an even bigger idiot than The Situation is a womanizer. In the video, Ronnie can be heard calling a guy on the boardwalk a "fucking faggot" and a "fucking queer" right before he beats the hell out of him. What a class act. Yesterday, Ronnie posted on Twitter: "I apologize to my fans, In the heat of the moment i said a lot of things i didnt mean and im very sorry... i love my creepy fans." Maybe they'll still love him, but we've lost respect. Why those words are even in people's vocabulary in this day and age is beyond us. Wouldn't "asshole" suffice? No word how Sammi Giancola reacted to Ronnie's apology, or if they are broken up or getting back together at this very minute. One can never be sure with them.

Mike Manning, MYV's Latest Jock

From OutSports.com/Jock Talk Blog: Here’s why I can’t stand MTV’s The Real World. They take a handful of self-important twentysomethings and give them a platform, as though what they have to say deserves to be heard by anybody. The latest example is Mike Manning, the resident gay/bi jock/eye-candy on air now in the show’s season 374, shot in D.C. Mike’s a tough guy who happens to “like guys”… and girls. Kinda. And he’s got plenty to say. One little genius piece of insight from Mike: I really don’t cry. I just don’t see the point. Huh? The point of crying? How about a very natural response to emotion? I can’t imagine Mike is saying that he doesn’t feel emotion, so I guess he’s saying he simply represses the expression of that emotion. Gotta keep up that big, macho jock image, especially since he likes guys. Then there’s some deep self-analysis by Mike. He says the one thing that he is best-defined as a bunch of contradictions… He likes his steak rare but his hamburger well-done. He likes snowboarding but he wants to live on the beach one day. He does keg stands but he has a high GPA. He’s a problem solver but he has no problem fighting. Ooooh, gosh. What contradictions! He’s smart but he likes to drink alcohol? Wow, I don’t know ANY smart people who like alcohol! He likes snow and the beach? Geez, that’s such a leap! I’ve never heard of a surfer who also snowboards. Get this guy a talk show! Mike’s apparently returning to D.C. to pursue a career in politics. He also thinks he’s a college lecturer on issues of health, the environment and equal rights.

Pedro Zamora Movie

pedrozamoraMTV recently posted the trailer for Pedro an MTV original movie that dramatizes the story of the late Pedro Zamora, the Real World season 3 cast member who was both openly-gay and HIV-positive. (It's set to premiere on MTV and Logo on April 1.) The movie was written by Oscar-winner Dustin Lance Black (Milk), but I have to say the trailer looks pretty lame. Partly, it's redundant: An excellent telling of Pedro's story already exists -- season 3 of The Real World. I’ve always thought that the 1994 season was the long-running reality series’ high point, and an example of what great TV can accomplish. During those early years of The Real World, the producers were making up the language of reality television as they went along. And in season 3, everything gelled, from the location (San Francisco looked like Oz), to the cast (every reality s--- stirrer since owes his or her career to Puck), to Pedro himself. He was charismatic and beautiful and 22 years old, and he had a disease that was going to kill him. I was a faithful viewer at the time, but I don’t think I appreciated then how revolutionary he was: He chose to spend what little time he had promoting AIDS prevention, and he was openly and proudly gay at a moment when thousands of gay men were dying with no end in sight. He even married his boyfriend on air. (In 1994!) He died on Nov. 11 of that year only months after the show stopped filming. (If you really want to start bawling, watch the MTV special that aired shortly after his death.)

Gayest RealWorld Season Yet

brooklynbridgeA pretty entertaining story on the Web site edgeboston.com suggests that the newest season of MTV's long-running reality series might be its gayest ever. "Real World: Brooklyn" will be the network's 21st iteration of the show when it premieres Wednesday night. The story says the new season "promises to be gayer than a particularly gay picnic basket; packed with enough gay, bisexual, transgendered and questioning participants to ensure this season will be the most rainbow-friendly one so far." So if reality TV is still your cup of Sweet Tea, then this might be the season you've been waiting for.

Britney: "I go through life like the Karate Kid"

Now I know I’ve said this before, but Britney is back, and boy oh boy is she letting loose on her critics.
In her closing comment she related,  “I go through life like the Karate Kid.”

In honor of her new album, "Circus," which hits stores Tuesday, Spears premiered a new documentary, “Britney Spears: For the Record,” Sunday night on MTV.

Filming for Spears documentary started at the Mondrian Hotel in Los Angeles on the eve of the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards. She told the crew that she was doing the documentary because she wanted to clear up what had been said about her in the past. No topic was off limit, and no moment was uncaptured.

On the morning of the VMAs Britney’s dad was at home with her making her a southern specialty, cheese grits. Does her trainer know about this? Larry Rudolph, Britney’s manager, says that this appearance is “the official comeback,” but she admits she doesn’t like that term. “I’ve been here the whole time,” she says.

When asked if she is ready to go back in to the spotlight, Britney doesn’t really give a yes or no answer. Instead she simply says that she has grown up a lot over the past few years and has become very protective of herself. “You’re guarded, you have to be. Otherwise, you get in situations like I have the past year,” she says. At least she is honest that this past year hasn’t been the shining moments in her life.

It was nice to hear Britney admit that she had become rebellious and lost her way. She says that she was lonely and because of that let some people in to her life that maybe she shouldn’t have. “You do stuff and you learn though,” she says.

I can’t believe she talked about this, but she actually admitted that when Justin Timberlake and her split she felt lost and like she wasn’t sure what she was supposed to do. She says that was nothing compared to her split with Kevin Federline though, particularly since they had children together and had built a life together.

Another shocking truth – “I think I married for the wrong reasons.” No kidding! She says she did it for “the idea of everything.” And about the aftermath, she says she never faced what was happening and how she felt. She also tells the camera that when Kevin started working on his own album things just got weird.

Unlike many people believed, Britney did not shave her head because she was going crazy. She didn’t even think it was a big deal. “People shave their heads all the time,” she says.

Britney says that after about six years of fame she was exhausted and wanted nothing more to do with her celebrity lifestyle. And who can blame her?

Watching this woman get out of a car is frightening! When she gets out of the car to enter a store she is immediately mobbed by men with cameras. We hear her say, “I’m scared” a few times before they drag her back in to the car. On the street there is another man with a camera screaming and swearing, but I’m not sure about what. It’s very scary, and for the first time we see a very sad Britney. I wouldn’t want to be her, not for all the money in the world.

I loved watching Britney shop! It was hysterical to watch her and her stylist try to decide what she could and couldn’t wear, how certain items were too expensive and how she did not want to look too “businesswoman.” Did the pop princess just call something too expensive? I didn’t know she had a too expensive limit.

A normal spot in Britney’s life is definitely the constant presence of her father. He is around almost all of the time, and they seem to have a very funny relationship. Maybe he isn’t the crazed, creepy, over-bearing parent everyone claims he is. Or maybe he is; I don’t want to make that call.

“I’m sort of stuck in this place, and how do you deal?” Britney says. She says that it’s hard for her to feel OK when she is under the constant scrutiny of everyone, including doctors and the courts. “When I tell people the way I feel, it’s like they hear me, but they aren’t really listening. It’s bad,” she says, breaking in to tears. “I’m sad.” The filmmaker asked her if she felt out of control, and she told him that in fact she feels bored and too in control.

Madonna makes a special appearance on the documentary when the two do a surprise appearance together. Madonna tells us that she feels maternal toward Britney, and she sees in Britney what she saw in herself in the beginning of her career. Madonna is so wise! She may seem crazy sometimes, but she actually had some great advice for Britney.

Britney says that she is angry with herself for letting people take advantage of her, but she is also angry with people for taking advantage of her and for so long.

“At this point I have two precious boys and my job. Those are the two things that have kept me going and kept me strong for the past two years,” she says. I was really surprised to see Britney’s kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James, on the show, but they were there for a few moments during Halloween. They’re adorable, and from what we saw she seems to be terrific with them. I hate that the tabloids judge her parenting skills. That’s not fair. They aren’t with her all the time. It’s just not right.

Finally, even with all of the tears, Britney tells the viewers that, “I choose to be a happy person. I choose not to bitter.” She says that there was a point were things were out of control, but that she is strong and she will make it through. She also says that she is now trying to avoid situations that she has been involved with in the past.

Oh, and we got to see a sneak peak of Britney’s new video. So great!

What the hell was Brittney Thinking

If you're wondering what was going through Britney Spears' head during her erratic era, you are not alone - so does she.

"I sit there and I look back and I'm like, 'I'm a smart person. What the hell was I thinking?'" Spears said in an interview to air on MTV on Nov. 30, two days before the release of her new album. "I've been through a lot in the past two or three years, and there's a lot that people don't know."
The 90-minute special, "Britney: For The Record," was executive-produced by Spears' manager Larry Rudolph. It features behind-the-scenes footage of the singer and her talking about her life over the past two years.

She's got a lot to talk about: In that time span, she has gotten divorced, been through a custody battle, gone to rehab, had very public meltdowns and had one memorably bad performance at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Now on the comeback trail, Spears is releasing her sixth album, "Circus," on Dec. 2, her 27th birthday.

Spears says she's hoping this TV special will "set the record straight" about her life.

Only On The Net

GC-PosOrNotdotComTH.jpgWe like games. In this one, the website posornot.com challenges you to pick out who the HIV-positive people are based on appearance, age, occupation, location and hobbies. We got 85% of them right! But seriously, folks, you can never tell. At least mostly never, and we kind of think that while well intentioned, this site may be a bit
misguided in creating this little game. It encourages stereotyping, and perhaps encourages such guessing games in real life when (like us) you get a lot of these answers right!  Anyway, games are supposed to be fun, and this one's just a little bit... well you know.  Wanh wah...

(The game was created by MTVu in association with POZ magazine, in order to raise HIV prevention awareness.)
