Matthew Montgomery

matthewmontgomeryFangoria, America's horror magazine since 1979 has revealed their interview conducted by Sean Abley (writer and director) with the cute, out and gay geek, Matthew Montgomery. Matthew who has played many leading roles in gay cinema such as GONE, BUT NOT FORGOTTEN, LONG-TERM RELATIONSHIP and the supernatural-tinged BACK SOON. What's really interesting about Matthew's film career so far is that while his most significant leading roles have been gay men, they have been in various genres ranging from romantic comedy to drama to sci-fi. Matthew is described by Abley as the next possible gay Parker Posey. Matthew also stars in an upcoming movie called, Pornography. Check out Sean Abley's entire interview with cute and sexy Matthew Montgomery by clicking here. BIO AND DEMO REEL FROM MATT'S WEBSITE Fueled by the thrill of the spotlight Matthew went on to study theater at U. S. C. under the guidance of Eve Roberts. Within his first year he was nicknamed “The Wonder Freshman,” as he was able to gain leading or supporting roles in nearly every theatre production that went on throughout the course of his studies. He was also able to gain a leading role in the mainstage production of Landford Wilson’s “The Rimers of Eldritch,” which at the time was unheard of as freshmen weren’t allowed in mainstage productions at U. S. C.

From there he went on to study at Point Park Conservatory in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania where during his stay there obtained a role as Johnny Eck in the zombie short “Reign of the Dead,” which followed the George Romero zombie saga. Beginning with his first feature film role as Mark Reeves in the Festival Favorite “Gone, But Not Forgotten,” which played in over thirty film festivals around the world and was “Top Ten Best Seller” for TLA Video for 2003 and 2004, Matthew began his career in Independent Film Cinema with a bang. He went on to star as Marx in Daniel Lee’s “Journeyman,” a resolute Iraq war veteran who drifts in and out of the main character Anna’s life by way of rescue. “Journeyman” went on to receive Third Place Feature Film in the Twin Rivers Multimedia Film Festival in Asheville, North Carolina. Following “Journeyman” Matthew went on to co-produce and star as Glen Phillips in Rob Williams’ gay romantic comedy “Long-Term Relationship,” the quirky but rocky tale of Glenn’s love for a conservative gay republican southern boy. Real life trials of a relationship are put to the test in this multiple award winning independent film, awards including “Second Place Best Actor” and “Best Feature” at multiple film festivals. Acquired by here! Films and Regent Releasing, “Long-Term Relationship” was released worldwide in November of 2007. Directly after, Matthew again co-produced and stared in Rob Williams’ second feature for Guest House Films’ “Back Soon” as Guillermo ‘Gil” Ramirez, a former drug dealer faced with the reality of his mortality through his own momentary death experience that leads to a bittersweet temporary possession by the spirit of Adrienne Foster, deceased wife of co-lead character Logan Foster. Sparks and attraction emerge, breaching the worlds of the here and now and the great thereafter. This film won the Alternative Spirit Award at the Rhode Island International Film Festival in 2007 and has since been acquired by TLA Releasing and Limelight Pictures for a DVD release scheduled for April 2008. In 2007 alone, Matthew starred in three feature films, produced two, and made a cameo appearance in another. Already slated to star in his next feature in January 2008 as Michael in the psychological thriller, “Pornography – A Thriller,” (directed by David Kittredge), Montgomery is also in development of two other features scheduled for a 2008 shoot in conjunction with Guest House Films LLC. In addition, March of 2008 has been scheduled as the worldwide DVD release of “Socket,” starring Matthew as Craig Murphy in this gay sci-fi thriller. Montgomery has allowed the development of a multi-faceted career with the emergence of his production company, Europa Pictures. It’s doors will open with Matthew’s first feature, “Sticke Figures,” the story of a recovering gay alcoholic from Manhattan who returns home to a small town in Texas after the death of his ex-girlfriend, only to discover that his inheritance is much more than he bargained for, and wears a dress. With his acting described as “stellar” by TLA Releasing, it’s assured that Matthew will continue to break into new ground in the film industry. Gary Kramer of Gay City News says, “Montgomery embraces his role, projecting the complexities of his character.” Matthew Montgomery has been involved in over 12 films and with a growing roster is one to surely be on the look out for on the red carpet soon.

THE HUNTING PARTY Manhunt

Gay In Gay Mag Takes Strong Stand Against Gay Sex Site

In the new issue of Out, Michael Joseph Gross takes on the thing that gay guys sort of refuse to but also can't stop talking about: the hookup site Manhunt. The website, founded in 2001, claims a million members, with 400,000 uniques a month—and a stupendously long time-per-visitor, on average, 40 minutes. (The New York Times would kill for that.) They get 30,000 new members a week, and that is a lot of horny gays. How do those numbers stack up in gayland?
Matt Foreman, former executive director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, notes with some awe that Manhunt's membership is "larger than the membership of every major gay political organization combined."Manhunt's annual income from memberships alone is roughly the same as the total amount of individual contributions to this country's two biggest gay political groups, the Human Rights Campaign and NGLTF. Foreman says, "If we could leverage their membership for activism, there's no limit to what we could do."
The problem is, no one wants to give money to those groups because they're (at least perceived as) wasteful and their politics and priorities are, in some ways, not shared. Or also—maybe gay guys are actually more interested in ass-fucking than marriage rights. And maybe they should be! So, but, and, as this article progresses—and it's a very interesting read—this weird, not-so-well-thought-out take on the whole thing comes through.
When you came out, you did it because you wanted something. Part of what you wanted was sex, but part of what you hoped for was the possibility of being loved as your true self. And when, as often happens while cruising online, we diminish the hopes that drew us out of the closet, we reduce sexy to a purely physical act. When we do these things we lie to ourselves -- and worse, we tell the same lies that our enemies tell about us. The fundamentalist canard about loving the sinner but hating the sin draws a nonsensical distinction between person and act. Cruising online, by encouraging us to separate sex from the rest of our lives, does exactly the same thing. These are falsehoods about human nature and about the place of love in our lives, and they undermine the belief that sex can be anything more than a pastime.
Okay hold the phone, pal. Yeah, there is such a thing as terrible junk food sex—and even worse crystal meth sex. And sure, spending all day in front of your computer, shopping for available guys is mindless, dehumanizing and a waste of time. But Gross is, how you say, not 20-something exactly, and this stuff isn't all necessarily true for people younger than him. (Or for some his age and older as well.) The kids today (damn kids!) don't see much difference between the community they run into on Manhunt and the community they run into in the local bars of Brooklyn, for instance, or on the street. Those are the same people, going the same places. And some of them are cheap sex partners, and some of them become boyfriends, and some of them are a community of friends. Hookup sex isn't a lie. It's not some betrayal of the self. This incredibly conservative view—he gets affirmation in the piece from Larry Kramer even, the original anti-hookup jeremiadist—is just silly. And he goes way over the top:
We still don't know how to have enduring relationships. We still don't have examples. We still don't have mentors. We still don't have courtship rituals. We are still getting HIV.
Uh, speak for yourself? And seriously, talk about needy! Who feels this desperate drive for someone to tell you how to live? The other thing about Manhunt is it brings together people who aren't part of this mythical community "we" that Gross thinks is so desperate for courtship ritual examples. Not every guy, on the Manhunt or off, is a West Hollywood and Chelsea gay looking for "role models," is not desperately looking for someone with better abs or a better credit rating. Not everyone even wants to even be a gay. Plenty of them just want to get fucked. And really, no matter how many times you do that, it still doesn't make you part of this little cultural club.

LA PRIDE 2008

Hot guys in their undies at the 2008 LA Pride Parade.

Hot guys in their undies at the 2008 LA Pride Parade.

Less than a week out from the legalisation of gay marriage in California, close to 200,000 people are estimated to have turned out for the annual Los Angeles Pride parade at the weekend.

Colour, and lots of it, was the main theme of a lot of the costumes that were on display atop the pride parade’s many floats. Turning out for the parade were the usual smattering of drag queens and muscled guys in their tightest underwear. While there were some anti-gay and anti-gay-rights protestors in attendance, the parade took place largely without incident. The parade took place in West Hollywood, an area of Los Angeles with a large gay population. Sheriff’s Captain Buddy Goldman, who is in charge of the sheriff’s department’s West Hollywood station, told the Los Angeles Times that he thought there was “a renewed energy in the [gay] community about gay marriage. There really is an upbeat feeling.” Don't forget... GorgeousBoys will be front and centre at the gay pride events in New York City, Atlanta and San Francisco over this northern summer - so keep an eye out for our stalls!

Model Undress: Kerry Degman Wants You To Eat His Shorts, Man!

CS-kerrydegmanTH.jpg Major model Kerry Degman graces the cover of this month's issue of Out Magazine, headlining the featured spread of models going "head to head" in a playoff-themed editorial. Not only does he command our attention for being all-American, cute, and shirtless, but he also makes us wonder where we've seen him before. Upon research we thought it might be one of his signature preppy spreads or campaigns for Abercrombie & Fitch or Ralph Lauren, in which he almost exclusively wears rugby polos and walking shorts. But then we realized we never look at Abercrombie catalogues and even if we did everybody is too faceless (and soulless) to remember. Then, like a Google-image of a ton of bricks, it hit us: he was that hot naked SK8R BOI we noticed back in February on JD Ferguson's blog! Feast your eyes on the cute irreverence in a little trip through time after the hump.

Wentz & Simpson Engaged

Fall Out Boy frontman Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson are engaged. Simpson released a statement confirming the engagement, saying she was "thrilled to share that we are happily engaged" and wanted the pair's fans to be the first to know. "We know there has been a lot of speculation recently about Pete and I and we wanted our fans to be the first to know, because you guys are the best," Simpson said. "Yes, we are thrilled to share that we are happily engaged. Thank you for all of your support and well wishes, it means the world to us. We consider this to be a very private matter, but we wanted you to hear it straight from us." The engagement follows a two-year courtship between Simpson and Wentz, who will both be marrying for the first time. Simpson recently began wearing a promise ring given to her by Wentz, which she admitted signified the couple's intention to marry. See more Ashlee Simpson Peter Wentz
