Daily SexPress: Alligator Frenzy ~ Blockbuster Fails ~ Chord Overstreet ~ RU-429? ~ Which Hunk?

Alligator Feeding Frenzy In Georgia

The Okefenokee Swamp at Stephen C. Foster State Park in southern Georgia, is the site of the latest reported alligator feeding frenzy. Approximately 300 alligators cooperatively hunted in a narrow canal while boaters looked on. Is it an odd occurrence, or a normal phenomenon? CNN reports that a boater at Stephen C. Foster State Park shot some astounding video footage of an apparent alligator feeding frenzy at Okefenokee Swamp. Roughly 300 alligators cooperated to catch a large population of mudfish. In spite of the huge number of feeding alligators, the boaters nevertheless went onto the water. Wildlife officials at the state park state that "the waters are safe for boaters." Odd Occurrence at Stephen C. Foster State Park? It is worthwhile to remember that the 402,000 acres of Stephen C. Foster State Park are home to about 12,000 alligators. Park officials warn that pets are forbidden to ride in boats, and children should stay away from the water's edge to avoid alligator attacks. Where this many alligators live, it should not be surprising to see some of them. Are 300 at one time in the same vicinity, therefore, unusual?

What I'll Miss About Blockbuster

The chain's demise is now nearly certain, but one film lover explains why that isn't all good news. It's too soon to call it an end of an era, but Blockbuster Video's troubles make it tempting. Between the company's presence on a Wall St. 24/7 List of "10 Brands That May Disappear in 2011" and the company's bizarre de-listing from the New York Stock Exchange this week (based on internal shenanigans that shareholders are trying to get to the bottom of), the company has what one might call a Wall Street image problem. And that's on top of the other, more general, more daunting problem it's been coping with for about five years now, which we've written about before and will call, for lack of a nicer phrase, The Stench of Death. Gorgeous Chord Overstreet

Ru429?

429 isn't a belated "time to light up a joint" call - it comes from the use of a phone’s keypad to spell out the word ‘gay’. You can read it as: 4-2-9 spells G-A-Y, now text that to your "st8" friends and see the response. (Editor's Note: GorgeousBoys is not liable for you getting a blackeye and or blocked)

Which '90210' Hunk Turns Out to Be Gay?

Earlier this summer, The CW announced that on the new season of 90210 it would be revealed that one of its three leading men would be gay: The three in question are Liam (Matt Lanter), Navid (Michael Steger) and Teddy (Trevor Donovan). Now Entertainment Tonight  talks to two of the guys to get their take. "It is going to happen," Trevor tells ET, at the same time denying that he knows which of the hotties it is going to be. "I would be flattered if [it was me]. What a great chance to use your acting chops a little bit to dive into a different kind of character. That is why we do this." Michael adds, "They are approaching it with respect. I know Adrianna (Jessica Lowndes) had an experimentation phase last year, but this year they are going to go the full arc and take it seriously. Not that they weren't last year, but it is going to be a shock."

Daily SexPress - Hepatitis C/Gay Priests/Coming Out/Counterfeit Condoms/Hot Tennis Player

A&E TV Channel Wants to Out Gay Celebs

Howard Bragman, the veteran Hollywood publicist and founder of agency Fifteen minutes, had sold a one-time reality TV special to A&E, he confirmed to PRNewser today. Bragman, who has helped a number of clients "come out" including Chaz Bono and Meredith Baxter, will focus the show on just that. Naturally, the title of the show as of press time is Coming Out, and will feature well known figures coming out of the closet.
"I'm the guy people come to when they want to come out, it's something I've done for twenty years," Bragman told PRNewser today.
So how did the idea come about? Bragman said that he was approached by some producers who told him the topic could make for an interesting show. He teamed up with producers JUMA Entertainment and A&E bought the show as a one time special, which is scheduled to air sometime in the fourth quarter of 2010.
"We're in casting right now," said Bragman, "looking for the best stories." When asked if he would feature his clients on the show, Bragman left that open as a possibility, but also said that it is not a requirement for appearing on the show.  I've been approached multiple times to do reality shows," he said. "And what I don't want to be is that screaming publicist who is yelling because he doesn't like Paris Hilton's table maid at an event...you know how they like to portray publicists in Hollywood. This is the first chance I had to do something that I found empowering and that could change the world a little."

New York Counterfeit Condom Bust

When it comes to counterfeit smuggling rings, the images that come to mind are generally knock-off handbags or ''Rolox'' watches sold on street corners. It might be time to conjure up a new image, one that has less to do with fashion houses and more to do with sexually transmitted diseases and HIV. Earlier this summer The New York Times reported that brothers Lin F. Hu and Jian Lin Hu pleaded guilty to smuggling into the United States counterfeit items such as bags, clothes and sunglasses, from China. According to the Times, the counterfeit smuggling ring made millions from selling the items with Disney, Nike and North Face brand names among them. Nothing out of the ordinary there. But these rogue entrepreneurs were also holding half a million counterfeit condoms, packaged as Trojan brand condoms and lubricated with vegetable oil. Though the Hu siblings did not admit to taking part in smuggling the condoms, the find is evidence that there must be a market for fake prophylactics. Robert Nardoza, public affairs officer for the United States Attorney's Office Eastern District of New York, said he believes some of those condoms may have made it to the market, but he could not comment further on such details as to where and when.

Are you at risk for Hepatitis C?

In general, men who have sex with men don't have the highest risk of contracting Hepatitis C; but, according to health researchers, getting HCV is "all about sharing." Of the three Hepatitis infections, C is the most deadly. Plus, it can't be cured. Hepatitis attacks the liver and 80 percent of people with the virus have no symptoms. Hep C's number one risk group are intravenous drug users. Still, gay men that don't inject should be on guard since HCV travels through blood transfer. If You Like Rimming, You Need To Know This! What puts you at risk? Rob Gair of Canada's Heath Initiative For Men said in a panel presentation at the XVIII International AIDS Conference that oral and semen exchange aren't the main culprits. Men who have sex with men increase their risk when they share unprotected sex partners. Having certain types of sex such as rough sex that causes anal bleeding, using drugs during sex, barebacking with multiple partners, topping multiple partners without using separate condoms, or fisting with shared gloves and lubes can open doors for HCV. Are you at risk for Hepatitis C? originally appeared on About.com Gay Life on Sunday, July 25th, 2010 at 14:45:27.

Are 98% of Vatican priests gay?

Panorama, an Italian magazine owned by Italy’s Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, has just released an undercover investigation on the secret night lives of gay Vatican priests. The story, “Le notti brave dei preti gay” (The good nights of gay priests), follows priests who party with male escorts, have homosexual relationships with casual partners, flirt with men online, and frequent gay nightspots. For 20 days reporter Carmelo Abbate followed a “gay tour guide” around Rome in search of  misbehaving priests. With a hidden camera he caught a French priest wearing his collar and no pants at a party with male escorts. The same priest was then caught entwined with Abbate’s gay guide. Several other priests were also filmed kissing the guide. Abbate then witnessed the same pants-less priest give mass in the morning before taking the male escorts to the airport. One priest even told Abbate’s gay tour guide that as many as 98% of Vatican priests are homosexual. The priest then lead the tour guide back to his apartment for a casual sexual encounter. READ MORE

Tyra Sanchez: Winner Of RuPaul’s Drag Race, Season 2

Tyra Sanchez goes by many titles. She’s seen as a villainess, a bitch, a role model—and as a father. But now the Orlando resident and female illusionist can add one more title to the list—she’s the winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race, Season 2. Sanchez—also known as James Ross—has known for nearly a year what the rest of us just learned April 26—that she was the season two winner. But she had to keep the results a secret for months, even from her boyfriend, Taylor. Plenty of talent surrounded the big finale of the Logo reality show as Sanchez, Raven and Jujubee battled it out for the coveted drag title. But only one could be the winner. The day after the finale aired, Sanchez, 22, was in New York taking on interviews and posing for photo shoots. She took time out of her busy schedule to speak with her hometown newspaper, WATERMARK about her experience and what her win means for her future and the future of her family.

Another Queen Exits The Stage On 'RuPaul's Drag Race'

After a week's hiatus, it's wonderful to be with you again! It's week five of "RuPaul's Drag Race," and if things weren't competitive enough for you before, they certainly are now. I chatted with California girl - and Scotland native - Morgan McMichaels, whose fashion-forward take on wedding couture landed her in the bottom two, and ultimately made her the queen slated to sashay away. Morgan admits she started her drag artistry because she loved the attention, but over time her punk-rock glam persona has grown fierce. "It's become more of an art form for me," she revealed. "It's like a personal challenge. It's not about the attention anymore. It's a chance to be creative, to get on stage and let people see how you express yourself. I feel you can get a lot of important messages through your performance." I loved the fact that Morgan spoke out so strongly about the civil right of marriage during the bride competition. "How dare you tell me I can't marry the person I love," Morgan said. "The gay community has taken a massive hit, but we're the ones that cuts everyone's hair. How about a day without a gay? Women would go crazy." While many of the girls openly expressed their issues with fellow contestant Tyra, Morgan said they had a mutual respect for each other. "I think Tyra comes from a side if the country where drag is not to be messed around with," Morgan explained. "Girls from the East Coast are very pageant oriented." As a fellow pageant queen, I relate. But Morgan noted Tyra's behavior is something she might grow out of. "Tyra is very unapologetic," Morgan added. "But that's an age thing. When we're young we don't want to hear how we have to change. I know I was there. There was nothing you could tell me about my drag. Once Tyra opens up to people, she will be 10 times the queen she is today." Morgan admits she was shocked when she made the bottom two. "When they told me I was very costume, I was confused," she said, arguing the previous week Tatiana was criticized for not being costume-y enough. But she accepted it and moved on. Morgan revealed the reason she started laughing was a nervous reaction. "You can laugh or cry, and I'm not a big crier," she said. Unlike some past lip-syncs, Morgan was not going to cartwheel in her tight-fitting dress. "My feet were not going to leave the stage," she said. "They are not there to see you jump around, they are there to see you lip-sync for your life." Kudos to Morgan for doing what she had to do and making her statement on stage! Being true to yourself in drag and in your beliefs is a priceless commodity in a queen. Catch "RuPaul's Drag Race" at 9 p.m. (ET/PT) every Monday night on Logo and visit http://www.LOGOonline.com to find out about viewing parties in your area. Until next week, kisses and equality!

Boy George Banned From British Reality Show

A British court has blocked an attempt by former Culture Club singer Boy George to appear on a reality television show. The 48-year-old had hoped to appear on Channel 4's "Celebrity Big Brother" despite being on probation for assaulting a male escort. Newspaper reports say George would stand to earn tens of thousands of dollars for appearing on the show, which begins Jan. 3. Probation officers argued that allowing George to appear on the show would undermine the reputation of London's probation service and public confidence in the judicial system. George appealed the service's ban, saying probation was not meant to punish him. High Court judge David Bean dismissed George's appeal Wednesday. The pop star, whose real name is George O’Dowd. In May O’Dowd was released early, after being sentenced to fifteen months in prison for unlawfully imprisoning an escort. He only served a quarter of his time, and now he’s tagged and subject to a curfew. The Press Association reports that O’Dowd has already taken $250,000 to participate in the show, however may have to return the money.

Golden Globe Nominations Announced

golden-globes2009The Hollywood Foreign Press Assn. tipped its hat to a roster of both commercial and specialty pics Tuesday morning when it announced its nominations for the 67th annual Golden Globes. Paramount's "Up in the Air" led the pack with six noms, including best picture, actor, director, screenplay and two supporting actress mentions. The Weinstein Co.'s "Nine" followed with five. "Avatar," "The Hurt Locker," "Inglourious Basterds" and "Precious" joined "Up in the Air" in the film drama category, while "500 Days of Summer," "The Hangover," "It's Complicated" and "Julie and Julia" rounded out the top comedy-musical pic list. On the TV side, HBO led all nominations with 17 total, but Fox's "Glee" received the most noms of any show, garnering mentions in the comedy-musical, actor, actress and supporting actress categories. Both Sandra Bullock and Meryl Streep reeled in dual notices in the lead actress categories. Bullock received mentions for her dramatic turn in "The "Blind Side," as well as for her lead comedic perf in "The Proposal" for which she will compete with Streep's two noms for "It's Complicated" and "Julie and Julia." Streep adds to last year's record-breaking tally for a total 25 nominations. Matt Damon also received twin acting noms: comedic actor in "The Informant" and supporting for "Invictus." "Inglourious Basterds" director-screenwriter Quentin Tarantino also did well with the Globes, garnering double nominations. In addition to a screenplay nom, Tarantino joined nominee Jason Reitman for "Up in the Air" in the directing category, along with Kathryn Bigelow for "The Hurt Locker," James Cameron for "Avatar" and Clint Eastwood for "Invictus." While the picture categories saw noms for smaller films and studio fare, the same pics were seemingly omitted in some expected categories. Warner Bros.' "Invictus" garnered acting noms for Damon and Morgan Freeman, as well as Eastwood's directing nom, but was shut out of the drama pic shortlist. Par's "The Lovely Bones," produced by DreamWorks, landed a mention for supporting actor Stanley Tucci but failed to net a drama pic nom. Sony Classic's "An Education" and Fox Searchlight's "Crazy Heart" received recognition in the acting categories for thesps Carey Mulligan and Jeff Bridges, respectively, but not much else. Focus Features' comedy-musical entry "A Serious Man" drew only one nom, for lead actor Michael Stuhlbarg. The big question is, which if any, of the film noms might translate to the Oscars' expanded roster of noms, which grew to 10 this year. Typically, only one comedy-musical nominee (usually the Globes winner) makes it to Oscar night, but even that's not a given. Last year's comedy-musical Globes winner "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" failed to make the cut. Pics nominated in the Globe's animated feature race, including "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs," "Coraline," "Fantastic Mr. Fox," "The Princess and the Frog" and "Up," could also find their way into Oscar's top 10. Toons aren't eligible for top picture consideration at the Globes. In all 38 films received at least one nomination, which should help boost the Globes' telecast popularity among viewers, especially given the populist tone of much of the nominated fare. The kudocast is being aired live on the West Coast for the first time on NBC since 1996. Among distributors, the Weinstein Co. received 12 noms -- the most of any studio -- followed by Warner Bros. with nine and Paramount with seven. Specialty distribs Sony Pictures Classics and Lionsgate grabbed six and five mentions, respectively. TV favorites "30 Rock," "Big Love," "Dexter," "Mad Men" and "Damages" were among the shows to receive three noms each, as well as longforms "Grey Gardens" "Georgia O'Keeffe" and "Into the Storm." Nominees were announced at the Beverly Hilton by John Krasinski, Diane Kruger and Justin Timberlake. The kudocast will air on NBC from 8-11 p.m., EST, Jan. 17. CBS Cancels 'As the World Turns' Bye Bye Noah and Luke (video)

Luke_and_Noah-Main as_the_world_turnsCBS is canceling the soap opera As the World Turns after more than a half-century on the air. CBS says the final episode will air next September, in its 54th year. Daytime dramas have been in a long-term ratings decline, and CBS ended the daytime soap Guiding Light earlier this year. Through the years, actors Marisa Tomei, Meg Ryan, Parker Posey and James Earl Jones have appeared on the show. The cancellation will leave CBS with only two daytime dramas: The Young and the Restless and Bold and Beautiful. As the World Turns premiered on April 2, 1956. It was the first television daytime drama with a 30-minute running time; all daytime dramas until then had had 15-minute running times. By 1958, the program was the number one daytime drama in the United States. As the World Turns continues to run to this day on CBS, and has won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Daytime Drama Series four times (in 1987, 1991, 2001, and 2003.) As The World Turns showcased the first gay male character on American soap operas, in 1987. On June 1, 2007, the character of Noah Mayer made his first appearance on As the World Turns, the daytime drama that has aired daily since 1956. He was a military brat turned heartthrob, who quickly hooked up with a fellow intern at the local television station. She fell for him--and so did her openly gay best friend, Luke Snyder. It took a while for Noah (played by Jake Silberman) to admit his own attraction to Luke (Van Hansis), who had come out the previous summer. On August 17, 2007, Noah and Luke shared a groundbreaking kiss--the first gay male kiss in the history of American daytime dramas. Overnight, the clip went viral and still stands as one of the most-viewed videos on YouTube.

ABC's `Good Morning America' Cancels Adam Lambert's Appearance

2009 AMA Awards ShowAdam Lambert's racy American Music Awards performance cost him a gig on "Good Morning America," but he will perform live instead on ABC's morning rivals at CBS. Lambert was to sing Wednesday on "GMA," but the network said Tuesday it was canceling the openly gay singer because "we were concerned about airing a similar concert so early in the morning." While singing his new song, "For Your Entertainment," at the awards program on Sunday, Lambert kissed a male keyboardist, fondled a dancer and had another dancer briefly stuff his face in Lambert's crotch. The performance prompted many complaints to ABC, and the network cut out the brief oral sex simulation for its West Coast broadcasts. "Obviously, I respect their decision — they gotta do what they gotta do," Lambert said Tuesday in an interview with Ryan Seacrest. "It's too bad — I think there were a lot of fans who were excited to come see me. "They probably had a lot of pressure coming at them from certain people who weren't happy about it," he said. ABC News' top management made the decision to cancel Lambert, spokeswoman Cathie Levine said. She said there was no pressure from the parent Walt Disney Co. 2009 AMA Awards ArrivalsWhile women have often crossed the threshold regarding sexually provocative appearances on television — think Madonna kissing Britney Spears — Lambert's performance was perhaps the first time it has been done by an openly gay man. The singer said before Sunday's show that he was hoping to accomplish just that. "There are a lot of double standards as far as that goes," Lambert said backstage, a few days before the awards show. "We've seen female pop and rock performers do that for the last 10 years. They've been very provocative, owning their power and sexuality. You just don't see men doing it very often. And I'm hoping to break down that double standard with this number." ABC said it felt burned because Lambert went further on the air with sexuality than he did in rehearsals — including the kiss. But the man putting his face to Lambert's crotch was included in a rehearsal, according to an Associated Press reporter who attended the rehearsal. It was that sort of unpredictability that bothered ABC, particularly on a morning show with many young viewers watching. Shortly after ABC's cancellation, CBS quickly announced Tuesday that Lambert would appear on "The Early Show" Wednesday morning both to perform and discuss the reaction to Sunday's appearance. Lambert is also appearing on David Letterman's "Late Show" Wednesday, which was scheduled weeks ago. The morning news ratings leader, NBC's "Today" show, did not consider Lambert because it already has a Bon Jovi concert scheduled for Wednesday, said its executive producer, Jim Bell. The "Good Morning America" Web site was flooded with comments from viewers about the Lambert cancellation. Some applauded ABC for taking a stand against vulgarity, while others suggested the network was being homophobic. The glam rocker finished second on "American Idol" this spring. His performances on the reality singing contest were not as provocative, but he was among the show's most colorful competitors with a voice compared to Queen's Freddie Mercury. After the competition, he came out publicly as gay. "For Your Entertainment" is the first single from Lambert's new album, which went on sale Monday. The "Good Morning America" cancellation was first reported on TVNewser and Hollywood Life Web sites.

Study Finds More Gay Characters On TV

gay_TVThe number of gay and bisexual characters on prime-time network TV is up slightly this season to 18 out of a total of 600 roles, according to the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLADD). The increase over 2008 fell well short of the more than twofold percentage jump in the '08 season compared to 2007, according to the group. And on mainstream cable channels the number of such characters continued to drop, slipping from a total of 32 in 2008 to 25 this year. The 2007 tally was 40. Two channels that program for gay viewers, here! and Logo, add 27 gay characters to the cable total, GLAAD said. The 14th annual "Where We Are on TV" report released Wednesday found that 3 percent of actors appearing regularly on network drama and comedy series in the 2009-10 season will portray gay, lesbian or bisexual characters. That's up from 2.6 percent in the 2008-09 season. In 2007-08, it was 1.1 percent. Only four of the 18 characters this season are nonwhite, GLAAD found, and there is only one lesbian, on ABC's "Grey's Anatomy." Using information provided by ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC and CW, the group reviewed 79 scripted series announced to air this season.

Kurt_Hummell Kurt Hummel, 'Glee' (FOX) Portrayed by: Chris Colfer. Kurt is a member of the Glee club and was previously bullied by the football team until he joined briefly and helped them win a game with his kicking ability. The steady increase in gay characters is promising, as are story lines that are becoming "more reflective of current issues affecting our lives," GLAAD President Jarrett Barrios said in a statement.

117159_4418 Marc St. James, 'Ugly Betty' (ABC) Portrayed by: Michael Urie. As Wilhelmina's ( Vanessa Williams) scheming assistant and Amanda's (Becki Newton) gay BFF, Marc has been one of the most consistently funny characters on "Ugly Betty" throughout its four seasons. Fair, accurate images of gay couples marrying, raising families and contributing to their communities help fellow Americans "come to accept and better understand" their gay family members and neighbors, he said. Examples cited by GLAAD include a gay couple marrying on ABC's "Brothers & Sisters" and a gay police officer on NBC's "Southland" — a rare character for a crime drama.

Kevin_Walker Kevin Walker, 'Brothers & Sisters' (ABC) Portrayed by: Matthew Rhys -  Kevin is one of five grown children in the Walker clan. A former corporate lawyer, he is now the communications director for Senator McCallister and is married to Scotty Wandell (Luke Macfarlane). ABC led the networks in gay representation, with 5 percent or eight characters out of 160, followed by Fox with four out of 104 (4 percent).

Patty Bouvier Patty Bouvier, 'The Simpsons' (FOX) Portrayed by: Julie Kavner. Marge's sister came out in a 2005 episode in which the city of Springfield legalized same-sex marriage in an effort to boost tourism. She did not, however, get married, as Marge discovered her partner, a pro golfer, was a man masquerading as a woman to play on the golf tour. CBS lacked a single gay or bisexual part, the report said. The network, which has gay cast members on its reality series and daytime shows, declined comment. Speaking to TV critics this summer, CBS programming chief Nina Tassler said the network has a commitment to diversity, including gay representation, and intended to improve. The Newlywed Game Features First Gay Couple

newweds newlywedgame_240_phixrThe Newlywed Show is a game show that tested couples on how well they know each other. The home of the television show, the Game Show Network, announced Wednesday The Newlywed Game will feature its first gay couple this season on a celebrity edition. You may recall back in early August we posted the show's casting call as it was posted on Craigslist. (check it out here). Star Trek’s Mr. Sulu, played by George Takei will appear with his partner, Brad Altman (pictured above). The couple has been together for 22 years and only just celebrated their first wedding anniversary this year after being married in Los Angeles in September 2008. The show has only recently featured older couples, interracial couples, and couple who have lived together years before they were married. Takei told The Associated Press, "To be included in something we never felt we'd be included in is very satisfying.”
