Elton John Performs At Rush Limbaugh’s Wedding

Conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh married his fourth wife, Kathryn Rogers, in a lavish wedding that saw openly gay entertainer Elton John as the musical guest. For someone being conservative, it’s pretty entertaining that it was his fourth wife and the musical entertainment was a gay man. Maybe it was all of those prescription drugs he was using. But wait, according to Limbaugh, “drug use is bad… drug users should be accused, convicted, and sent to prison.” As for Elton John, it was reported that he was paid $1 million dollars to perform, but with all the gay bashing that Limbaugh does, wouldn’t you think that John would particularly want to stay away from this ceremony? I wonder what Limbaugh’s groom speech was like: “…let’s say we discover the gene that says the kid’s gonna be gay. How many parents, if they knew before the kid was gonna be born, [that he] was gonna be gay, they would take the pregnancy to term? Well, you don’t know but let’s say half of them said, “Oh, no, I don’t wanna do that to a kid.” [Then the] gay community finds out about this. The gay community would do the fastest 180 and become pro-life faster than anybody you’ve ever seen. … They’d be so against abortion if it was discovered that you could abort what you knew were gonna be gay babies.” Limbaugh is just happy that his wife is almost half his age. I mean, if you’re going to live your life as a hypocrite, I mean conservative, at least marry young and pretty. What it must be like to be rich. OUR PREVIOUS REPORT The New York Daily News is reporting that Rush Limbaugh, who is getting married for the fourth time today, has enlisted the music services of Sir Elton John for the festivities, and John agreed. Has no one told Limbaugh about Elton John’s, um, that he’s, you know? From the New York Daily News:
The conservative firebrand, 59, will exchange vows Saturday in Florida with Kathryn Rogers – a blond bombshell half his age – in a lavish Hawaiian-themed wedding bash headlined by none-other-than Sir Elton John. It’s an odd pairing considering El Rushbo’s history of anti-gay commentary on his conservative radio show and the openly gay “Tiny Dancer” singer’s longtime commitment to gay rights.
Apparently Limbaugh, who asked the paper for privacy on the occasion, can put aside his political beliefs for a special occasion (Limbaugh is openly against gay marriage; John married his husband in 2005). The report doesn’t say exactly whose idea it was or whether John initially objected, but he is reportedly taking home $1 million for the performance at Palm Beach’s Breakers Hotel. Between Elton John and an uninvited Gawker-funded airplane flying over his ceremony, this is quickly turning into the most liberal high-profile wedding of the season. Congratulations, Rush!

IN CASE YOU WONDER ABOUT RUSH:

Rush Limbaugh, the current de facto leader of the Republican Party, is known to be bigoted and homophobic. And while he speaks to Conservatives, it’s important that you know what he has to say about you. Here you go, five of Rush Limbaugh’s most offensive, anti-gay, homophobic, bigoted comments:
  1. Aired a song about Senator Barney Frank called “Banking Queen“.
  2. Democrats will “bend over, grab the ankles, and say, ‘Have your way with me’” to African American and gay voters.
  3. On the Mark Foley scandal: “In their hearts and minds and their crotches, they don’t have any problem with what Foley did. They’ve defended it over the — over the years.
  4. Openly gay students are “trumpeting” their sexuality, “inviting dissent”.
  5. When a gay person turns his back on you, it is anything but an insult; it’s an invitation
Lastly, there’s this one, which I have yet to figure out how many sensibilities it offends:
“…let’s say we discover the gene that says the kid’s gonna be gay. … They’d be so against abortion if it was discovered that you could abort what you knew were gonna be gay babies.”

Gay Couple To Wed Inside Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream Parlor

Same-sex couples have been exchanging vows all over the District since D.C. first began to issue marriage licenses to gay and lesbian couples on Tuesday—in gardens, in courthouses, in the office of the Human Rights Campaign, and even in Hello Cupcake. And today, a Georgetown establishment is going to be the site of a same-sex wedding, DCist reports, when the marriage between Keith Spangler and Andreas Vellios takes place at Georgetown’s Ben and Jerry’s. Ben & Jerry’s has a prominent history of supporting several social justice movements—the company even made a commemorative ice cream, Hubby Hubby, when its founders’ home state changed its laws to recognize same-sex marriage—and Jerry Greenfield (the Jerry of Ben & Jerry’s) will be at the ceremony to talk about his company’s commitment to justice and to congratulate the couple. City Councilmember David Catania (SFS ‘90, LAW ‘94), the first openly gay member of the D.C. City Council who introduced the bill legalizing same sex marriage, will also be there, along with Freedom to Marry Director Michael Crawford. Afterward the ceremony, there’s going to be ice cream cake for friends and family of the couple.

Police Break Up Gay Wedding

Police in Kenya arrested five men, guests at a gay wedding planned for a beach resort, officials said. The officers said they saved the lives of the wedding guests, who faced an anti-homosexual mob, The New York Times reported. The wedding was planned for Kikambala, a beach resort. Police said local residents found out about it and stormed the house that had been rented for the occasion. Homosexuality is treated as a crime in Kenya with prison sentences as long as 14 years. But prosecutions are unusual. "It's culture, just culture," said a Kenyan police spokesman, Eric Kiraithe, when asked to explain the intense feelings about homosexuality. "It's what you are taught when you are young and what you hear in church. Homosexuality is unnatural. It's wrong." Kiraithe said the couple who had been trying to marry were not arrested, although he could not say why. He said the men who were arrested might be tested to determine if they had homosexual relations.

Colin Farrell Flies to Dublin for Gay Brother's Wedding Blessing

The gay brother of Irish Hollywood star Colin Farrell is celebrating his wedding in a ceremony next weekend. Eamon Farrell is having a blessing to mark his union with artist boyfriend Steve Mannion (pictured left). According to the Irish Independent, the pair actually got married in Canada this summer, with Colin as Eamon's best man. At the time Eamon lamented the fact he and his partner could not wed in Ireland. "We have to get married abroad. It's absolutely terrible. We have to go somewhere legal, which narrows it down to about five countries," he said, according to Perez Hilton. At least they can have an Irish party. After the wedding blessing the couple will spend the evening with a host of well-wishers in Krystle nightclub, a funky venue on Harcourt Street in Dublin. The club has private booths, a pent house and a VIP suite – ideal for accommodating the VIP party. It will be a family night out, including Farrell’s mother Rita and sisters Claudine and Catherine, the Independent reports. A gang of other Irish celebs will be there too. And of course, Farrell is flying in from LA to join in.

Gay Dads Finally Get Married After 26 Years (video)

gay_dads_weddingWe've seen a beautifully sweet wedding video including two committed fathers (together 26 years) finally marrying. Their 16-year old daughter shares words of hope with the wedding guests. Says daughter Chelsea: "I'm the proud 16 year old daughter of same sex-parents. Because of twisted laws my parents couldn't get married until last October after 26 years of being together. I hope to be able to change some peoples ideas about same-sex marriage because of my unique point of view. This is my speech from my parents wedding."
[MEDIA not found]

The video shows Chelsea standing-up for her parents at their union ceremony. In her moving words, she says, "What marriage really is is love blossoming between two individuals and a promise that what they have together can only get better. Marriage is a bond between two people that love each other so much that their hearts are bursting with joy and love and compassion for each other; and no one can tell them that they don't belong together and they shouldn't love each other." Read full story from www.proudparenting.com Everyone who is undecided about marriage equality should see this. Even some of the less petrified of the fundies might discover the weak flicker of an ember of empathy if they mistakenly subjected themselves to even just a fleeting glimpse into the actuality of our lives. In her two minutes this beautifully tearful daughter might just be able fracture even the most staid, stony crust around some of our most staunchly bitter opponents.

Madonna to Wed Jesus

420-madonna-420x0Madonna and her 21 year old lover Jesus (check out his hot photos here) are getting married in a Kabbalah ceremony, according to the model's father. Fresh out of her eight-year marriage to British film maker Guy Ritchie, Madonna, 50, plans to wed the 22-year-old in a Kabbalah ceremony in the near future, Britain's Daily Mail reports. The revelation came in an interview Jesus Luz's father, Luiz Heitor Pinto da Luz, gave to Brazilian magazine Quem. "My understanding is that this is just a consequence of what is happening," Mr Luz told the magazine.
"He is already living with her. I don't know if there will be an actual wedding. From what I have read there could be a sort of ritual, but I don't know Kabbalah... to know if it's valid and legal."
Mr Luz defended his son's girlfriend in an interview.
"We've already spoken on the phone, in French because I don't speak English fluently, and she seemed like a normal person," he reportedly said.  "She is calm, feminine - I didn't feel any harshness. She was very polite."
The pair met on a magazine photo shoot in a Brazilian hotel room late last year.

Hallmark Goes Gay ? Or Are We Just As Boring As Everyone Else ?

GC-Hallmark.jpgIn a move that is sure to be looked back upon as a milestone in the straight-ification of gay life, that bastion of banality, Hallmark, has released a series of same-sex wedding greeting cards. One, showing two headless men in tuxedos holding hands, says "Two hearts, one promise." Yes, sure, it's just more dollar diplomacy and company trying to cash in on our greater social acceptance, and sure there's already been plenty of small-press greeting cards out there in gay ghetto gift shops for years, but somehow this news still depresses us.
OK, truth be told: Hallmark cards have always depressed us, no matter what the occasion. And say what you will about civil rights and the boon of mainstream recognition, but Hallmark marketing cards to the gays makes us long for the days of furtive encounters in the deep, dark closet.
